Looking at a 2001 501 Are there any issues or concerns I should be worried about on this bike???

Thanks

As with all used bikes, some have more issues than others.

2001 was the first year of a new engine design, so there were issues. If the previous owner(s), did there home work and put in the updated valve train, bearings etc, it should be a great bike. If I remember right there were also issues with the cases cracking at the swing arm pivot as well, but I am not sure.

Go to the nav bar<<<< and look in the "owners Doc!", there is a large quantity of info there.

An 01 may have too many issues for a Berg newbie. Fast forward to a 2004 model or newer and live happily ever after.

welcome to UHE!

you win second place for the most boring nik of all time here at UHE.

we need a name and a place or we may never speak to you again. never did like cyborgs anyway, ever since aliens.....never been the same....

the bike will need plenty of work at this age. you can take a chance, get going with it, enjoy for a while and pick up info from the doc and then put it into action. but buying it may be the cheapest thing you do!

regards

Well, I could have listed the issues, but Husabutt summed it all up very well.

Note that when it works, it is an awesome ride, but there is a reason why I have a second bike, why it is a two-stroke, and why I ride it these days.
