I used a 17t a couple of years ago when I took the FS out on a big RR-track. That was not 100% bolt on but 90%.

Hi there guys,
I run a 16 - 48 0n my 04 fe550 , it is possible to get a 16 tooth on the front, there isnt much room left between the swing arm and the outer edge of the teeth of the sprocket, a few mm. I have to let go , one end of the plastic chain runner on the swing arm and twist it out of the way to let the sprocket seat properly. Then reinstate the plastic chain runner or swing arm protector so to speak.
Hope this helps!

why in the heck would your run a 16 CS on the fastest wide ratio tranny bike on the planet? I have a 13 CS and still never see 5th or 6th gear EVER.

Hi big bob,

I run 16 /48 or 16/45 depending on the er um, spacing of the trees.

would you like to swap your unused 5th and 6th gears for my almost unused 1st and 2cnd ? :D :D :D :D :D

LMFAO !

I heard you don't have trees in australia just bushes and pigmies

and I was wrong, my CS is a 14 and I have the stock rear, forget what it is right now, but I am gonna still add two more teeth in back next sprocket chain change out. Yes you can have my 5 & 6th gear anytime as I don't go over 45 MPH here in the Sierra Nevada forests.

om,i have a supermoto model riden on the street,..
was just clocked at 123 mph with 15/40,
it wan't topped out

Respect...you must have arms like a gorilla to hang on at that speed. Mine has a 15/42 and it was doing around 7k rpm at around 80mph. I'm thinking of going to 16/38 to keep the revs down for decent speed and acceleration.

i found the stock 16/40 gearing quite good in the sand before I got a real back tyre. the 650 has the tourque to pull a higher gear for longer less work awesome!

Its probably just me bouncing all over the place with arms legs and feet comming off everywhere like a drunk tellystubby but I got nuetral too many times changing over from 1st to 2cnd and vice versa, even changing down into 2cnd got nuetral a few times so I geared it down to make 3rd the lowest gear used regulary.

may be of use to someone not sure how many other telystubbies ride

Regards

the 16 38 is gonna be tough on the 1st gear leave,.
imoa,..the 15 40 is a lil tall in first,my bike is all stock,btw.
try 16 42,its the cheap way out for youits like 15 39,or 381/2 if you will
