I have an '09 FE450 with 305hrs, 8236kms. Bike still runs great, but I am a bit concerned about the hours. Valves have been checked and haven't moved at all. It doesn't burn oil and still starts easy and pulls hard. Oil stays clean between frequent changes.
I was prepared to take the engine out for the winter and do some major maintenance, but due to global climate change (I am a BIG fan BTW) this winter has been very warm in Toronto, Canada, so I am still riding the bike when ever I can. I really don't want it down for any length of time.
What should I check? Timing chain wear? Leakdown test? Or just keep riding it? The bike has been "Raced", that what I do with it, but it seldom gets thrashed, doing most of my riding in the tight woods (my overall average speed on 27 km/hr says it all) so I don't really rev the bike for extended periods.
If I just ride it, can I expect it to blow up at any time?
Thanks,
Bryan
