Hi guys. Im just trying to get as much info as i can about the 09's. can anyone comment on the ignition switch that the bike has that allows you to select from 3 different timing curves. i also read that there will be some software package that comes with the bike that you can plug up to your pc and tune the bike.
i will scan an article from ADB mag and post it.
Cheers

I can't speak to the details of the new Berg's ignition, but my FI Cannondale had a plug under the seat to link it to a computer. In the case of that bike, I had to buy the software and upon start up of it you had to enter the serial number of the ECU. This way the software only worked for that ECU. It's how they kept charging $350 a shot for it!

Sure would be nice if the Berg came with the software.

Once hooked up you can monitor and change a bunch of parameters. You would load different "maps" into it, essentially tuning the power characteristics of the bike. The Cannondale software manufacturer offered a switch that allowed you to swap between different maps on the fly. Perhaps this is the same on the Berg. Get into a tight section, hit your map to optimize low end grunt, out in the open, use the map for top end power.

People would make up their own custom maps and post them on a forum like this so you could download them and try them in your bike. It was pretty cool.

Having the bike hooked up to the computer also gave you a bunch of diagnostic tools. You could monitor things like your throttle position sensor, oxygen senser...etc. Lots of sensors!

Again...these things are possible with the FI, whether Husaberg makes the software available to riders is another thing...and I don't know if they will, or won't. In some cases manufacturers keep that ability to tinker to themselves in the service department.

RE: Re: 09 fe ecu

Goldenboy is right, the software will be only available to HUSABERG dealers. I will be at Husaberg Tech school Monday to learn about the new bike, EFI etc. so I will have more info on the setup then. Keep you posted.

damn, i thought users would be able to set up 3 different maps for hill climbs, open trails, single tracks.:( so the dealer will be doing all the maps? but we still have the switch to choose which map it is right? how much extra will this ignition switch be?

around 50 euro for the switch here.

3 positions: standard , soft and performance.

really a minor difference between the 3 of them.

in 450:
soft peaks at 45 hp and performance at 47.
curve all the way small difference.

the data logger is what is exciting with this bike and also the fact that you can get the lap-top computer and the available by the dealer software and set the injection and the ignition maps at your likings...

oh rite :) thats what i was hoping for. awesome. now just a waiting game. do you know if you can also set a new rev limiter?? or is it just change map curves?

Hi Brendus,
With the switch all you can do is choose from 3 preset programs, not alter settings because when people play with things warranty becomes a nightmare. You will not be able to do any tuning unless you are a dealer with the equipment.

is it even worth putting a switch on the new husa to choose from another mapping if there's hardly any noticable difference?

Yes, the settings are Soft, Std & Performance. This is the same as what is fitted to the 690KTM series.

good point !

is it noticable ? anyone out there yet who has ridden one and flipped the switch at all ??

A question to this point........

What map is it set on if you don't have the switch?

i was sure that i read that the customer will have some type of data dot type thing and be able to plug up the pc to it and tune it. i will see if i can find it. i guess time will tell.
cant wait for mine to come.

well found out a lil more info.
the bike ecu(or dealer sofware) come with 12 different maps on it. 3 or going to be on the ecu.(soft normal aggressive). there wont be a way for the user to change the maps him/herself im told :(. but the dealer will be more then happy to change them for any 3 u want. this being said i was also told that the 3 maps that are availible via the switch will keep 99.9% of riders happy.
