Does anyone know whether the use of fuel injection means the cam lobes are less pronounced due to the fuel injection. If that is the case then that saves the roller bearings on the rocker arms???

Hi fe600,

You can have a cam like that on your current engine if you want.
Gets rid of that horrible cam slapping noise as well.

Sparks.

RE: Re: 09 cams, and electric start

the shape of the cam has nothing to do with fuel injection and vice versa....

you're implying an increase in performance via the Fi so we can have a softer cam? or what?

sorry, just don't follow you?

Taffy

Centre line angle between the lobes my be wider?

RE: Re: 09 cams, and electric start

The cam has nothing to do with induction. FI just takes away jetting issues really.
This model will still be a "race' performance engine and therefore will more than likely have a pretty agressive cam.
You could probably look at the KTM for some clues since the top end is similar. Don't quote me on that though they may be different.

Taffy, yes that is what I am implying. The aggressive cam was to allow fuel to get in from the carb. With fuel injection you could have a softer cam and sqirt the fuel iin real quick, better performance and soft cam saving the roller rocker bearings???? Have I got this FI benefit right or am I missing something?

ah! i got you!

no, the carb is continually pulling and at the entry to the carb it isn't actually start-stop, start-stop. it's a long flow so in effect it gets exactly the fuel it wants with the carb the same as with the Fi.

it's the Fi that spits 'n stops, spits 'n stops.

regards

Taffy
