Nizzo and Jag have been wondering the same question, as they are going to replace the 650 with a 570 for next years ice season. They suspect that they are going to loose some arm stretch...which is most likely. We'll find out this weekend when Shane and I race the 570 against the 650 on the ice.

hmmm I'm alos very keen to see any comparisons.

So far seat of the pants is the 570 is quick but lacks the V8 grunt of the 650, I'm thinking the 650 will still be the better desert racer despite the 570 handling advantages

should be good to hear the results of the race

ok, I'll report not only results but our impressions as well. It seems that Nick and Jay may change up the teams, putting Shane on the 650-and Jay will ride the 570 with me..so that will net a much more accurate comparison.

for a race report:

Nizzo rode the 570 for one lap on the 12 km loop and he came off the bike very happy. He had some serious reservations about horsepower as well, but the bikes ability to be a better race bike left him very confident. A pipe, perhaps gettign a map that combined the topend from the #2 setting adn the bottom end pull of #0 would make the bike stellar.

Jocke noted that his Super moto buddy was expecting 60 some hp with head improvements...that would make the 570 a better bike than the 650 immediately. Not simply due to its handling, but also its suspension, allows a guy to extend his comfort zone to another level.. My belief anyway. Time will tell as more people try the bike out, but I think we've only seen teh beginning of what the bike is capable of.

cheers

hey all,
my two cents after riding Fry's 570 for one lap after last Sunday's ice race:

-570 lacks the "V8 grunt" of the 650, BUT it more than makes up for it in other ways. I would say the 570 pulls much like a seriously over-built jap 450 (490).
-the new chassis is far more confidence inspiring into the turns. It begs to be ridden with more momentum than the old chassis. The old chassis needs to be told to get going at the apex...the new bike tells YOU when its time to go. I found myself going full gas at least 20 ft sooner in corners, and when i did the bike continued to give positive feedback....it doesn't try to stand up with big power applications, it just goes faster holding the same line you've chosen.

Spend a couple hours on the new chassis and I honestly believe it'll make you a faster rider.

The race is not won in the straights...its won in the corners.

570 vs 650

Thanks for the feedback on the bike guys i agree with everything you both have stated just wanted to get a reasonable perspective on the power delivery from someone who has riden one as i have not yet had a chance i brought my first husaberg last year a new 2008 fe650e and just love the sheer brute horsepower ya gota love it but the new one sounds like a good thing like you said a good pipe and good mapping and look out
cheers aquajett
