Hey guys
I picked up an 08 FE450 last week. Im looking for advice on spring weights. Im 6'4" and 230 lbs. What do you guys recommend for front and rear spring weights? What is the crossover KTM rear spring part #? Also who do you guys recommend to do a revalve front and rear.

well you need .050-.052 on the front. on the rear you're looking at a straight rate 104-110 something like that?

as for a revalve, the rear is good to go really. but the front is a mess. if you can remove the base stack and the midvalve and send them to me while you order the springs then I can do them relatively cheaply. IF you are a competent mechanic.

I raced with this exact fork for 13 years and did all my own suspension. try and get the SKF seals as well.

He'll set you strait.
I'm a little heavier than you, on my 07 fe450 I ran 50's in the front and a factory connection progressive wound 9.0~11.5 on the rear.
I prefer the progressive rear for trail riding, seems smoother riding over trail trash..
If you need a KTM crossover search, springs from an 06 450exc will fit.

If you’re interested, you can do the revalve yourself - incl. the valve stack design - with the help of Shim Restackor: Shim ReStackor, Finally software to tune a shim stack

It’s a damping fluid dynamics simulator, iow it simulates what’s going on inside the dampers given a certain valve stack and setup.

This is nearing the deep end of things, but still perfectly attainable for mortals (I did my DRZ front and customized a community stack. Went to lighter oil but still stiffened up the front :) Kinda cool.)

the problem with these forks is NOT the shimstack per se. it is whole lot more. the piston design is wrong.

For what it's worth, you can simulate and redesign EVERYTHING with Shim Restackor, including simulating custom piston ports and geometry and having them CNC'd out.

Went to race tech and they only show a 2008 Ktm 450 for rear spring rate. Ive been looking on ebay but cant figure out exactly what I need for rear spring. Do I need a progressive or straight rate spring? Up front ive found .50 springs but for rear Im very confused. Any help would be appreciated! Slavens is retired on revalving. Any other suggestions for a revalve?
