I have been trying to get the front end on my 08 550FE sorted and after doing research have concluded the factory spec sheet is incorrect.
it calls for spring length of 485MM which is the correct length is 505mm and the spec sheet says tube length is 549mm which it is actually 577mm. My bike came with the springs 20mm to short and had two 10 mm spacers plus 1 1.5 mm spacer to make up the difference. looking forward to getting the MV fixed and put back together to see if this will now work as designed.

Never seen factory springs off that far. However, Like I was saying in your other thread, unless the springs you pulled out were so short that they would coil bind, they will otherwise perform exactly the same as a longer spring that is the same total length as the short spring w/ spacer (assuming both springs are the same rate). All that matters is total spring length. A spring that is 10mm shorter with a 10mm spacer will be identical to a spring that is 10mm longer with no spacer. As long as coil bind is not an issue, the two springs are identical performance-wise.

Your bike will be better because your new springs are heavier and match your weight.

This all came to light while dealing with Pro Motion Suspension. I was asking him about doing a revalve and he did not have a spec sheet so I called the local Husaberg deal and had them send me one since this is a dealer item.
when I sent him the sheet asked me to measure my tubes since the sheet did not make sense to him so after inspection this bike had the wrong springs hence all the spacers. so from the factory it came with springs from a twin chamber fork. a factory connection tech said the more spacers you run will mess up the air chamber volume so you will need to run less oil than normal to make up the difference. I ordered new springs of the proper length.

Maybe it was motard orginally?

I'm referring to the factory set list that comes from the factory. I had to call a Husaberg dealer for this list to give to my local Race Tech suspension tech. after review of said list it shows the fork tubes 20 mm shorter than they are and spec 20mm to short of springs so the bike came with short springs and 20mm of spacers to make up the difference. besides the fork tubes on both fe and fc are the same length.
