08 550 fuel tank

Hey guys
need some help getting the black scuff marks off my tank.

The plastic has a dimple surface so it gets dirty easy.

what are the scuff marks from? might be a bit easier to give an answer though i find rubbing with petrol removes most things especially if smoking at same time.

Carburetor cleaner usually works.

On my 01 and 05, since the tanks have a matt finish, Soft scrub with bleach with a grey Scotch Brite pad cleans them up nicely.

I haven't seen an 08 tank up close.
