Are any other dealers out there coming accross oil leaks with the 07 Bergs....our 06s, no problem, 07s are a different story...sold a new fe550e to a customer and water pump shaft is doing more than seeping (sent updated seal which should have been installed from the factory anyway), also same customer's countershaft seal is leaking (still)..normally it will leak a bit then stop once the seal settles in, but 3-4 rides later and his still leaks (not a chain adjustment problem either, his chain is not too tight). I normally would not be that concerned, except 3 07 550s are having this problem 2 FEs and 1 FS (however, our 07 fe demo finally stopped) and one 07 650 is still doing it...again, no issues with our 05 (even when new) 650 or 06 380 or 450s...

should we be automatically updating all 07s with new seals and new countershaft bushings? has any other dealer received a tech bulletin on this? just trying to see what other dealers are noticing...

my 07 650 weeps out the weep hole on the water pump, never had a bike do it this much, not hittin the groung or anything just werd.

My 07 450 is leaking oil out of the water pump weep hole so what is the difference
in the new seals compared to the old ones
I had problems with the seals leaking on previous bikes 01 400 and 04 450 it started with
a oil leak then it progressed to oil and coolant leak the bummer part is that my new bike
started leaking much sooner than the older bikes

someone would should let Husaberg no about it and demand a fix..

A couple of weeks ago I replaced the seal on the coolant side as antifreeze was leaking out the weep hole. I went ahead and ordered a new seal for the oil side as well, it came with WP bearing as one part number.

I was out today for a shake down run before leaving for Moab next week, and now the oil side is leaking!! Coolant side is holding fine.

Too late now, I guess it will be like that until I get back from Moab so I can fix it. I wonder if I got an updated oil seal, and that is why it is leaking?

you all have brand new bikes and they leak ?

we as a group should pressure ktm to fix this @#$## problem , as you put more hours on the bikes the worse the leaks will get .

if you don't fix the coolant leak then it might turn into a double leaker, oil and coolant . if you don't fix the oil leak then expect a coolant leak as well .and when you have any of these leaks please WATCH the condition of your oil ... you can observe clean oil thru the sight glass
one minute and milky goo the next .

2007 FE550

Have some oil leak issues on mine as well. Anyone know how we get the message back to Husaberg / make this right? I am happy to draft a letter/email -just need to know where it should go.

I would assume Husaberg knows of this issue as it is basically unchanged since 2001!

Hi guys, I note last months US Dirt Bike had an article on the bergs. They say things are better, a good wrap up on stability.

I wonder if someone could prompt them into one of their famouse flogging tests to see what they think?

Ok, so what is the fix for these oil & coolant leaks ??

It seems like the are replacement seal kits, how big a job is it ?

whats invloved ?

how big a problemn is it if left unfixed ??

The KTM RFS's get a minor weeping at times but it's no big deal.

Whosaberg, how does the oil and coolant end up together from this issue ?? I havent had a Berg yet so am not familar.

Gazza,
Mine made it about 70 hours before the coolant seal started leaking. The Husaberg, like the KTM, has a "weep" hole in the engine case so that coolant won't mix with oil, and vice-versa. Another seal, next to the WP bearing, seals the oil side. If it leaks, oil will come out the weep hole.

The newest KTM design with the two o-rings around the carrier is easier to change. However, you have to press two seals in on the inside of the carrier as well. This can be tricky. The best thing about the KTM seal carrier is that it has a place to install two small screws that function as a puller to remove the carrier. I had to remove the left cover on my Husaberg, but changing the seal was very straighforward. It just pressed straight into the cover--very simple.

I've replaces three sets of o-rings/WP seals on my KTM, so they are just as problematic, if not more so, than the Husaberg.

if coolant passes the water pump seal it contaminates the oil , the weep hole can only discharge a certain amount .

when the seal fails you can end up with a oil / coolant mix .

this is my main berg annoyance .

why they can't fix it , i can not understand .

I'm going to be replacing my 3rd w/p seal. the shaft where the coolant seal rides is HEAVILY gauled and grooved.(06 450). Don't forget to replace the o-ring on the shaft where the bearing rides. I used an after market one. On the oil seal i removed the spring and cut off several loops to make it tighter. Now no oil leaks, just a little coolant until hot. The design is what it is, i hope the new seal(updated one) works better, but the shaft is still junk. Runs great though!!!!
