Hi All,
Been on with my importer (D.C.R.) he`s found out that the 06 Husaberg FC range will come with smaller tanks. Apparently the larger tanks will still fit on the FC range, a step in the right direction for motocross riders. Popping to see him tomorror i`ll see if i can get anything else out of him.

Heard that as of 06 KTM will get a new style engine, any chance Husaberg will have one also?

Great news :D

Smaller tank is just about all I have wanted to change on my berg.

A new engine (450) is currently used in the world championship motocross. It is a DOHC design.
We know that the actual 450 and 525 are based on the former husaberg design.
To me it seems that the real question is : will husaberg and ktm continue to develop different engines ? When KTM bought husaberg, the new engine was not fully developed. So it is but normal that they based their engine on the old husaberg. But one could expect that by now ktm would take over the actual husaberg design (i mean on the 650) now that it is fully developed.

I see where it would make sense financially, but a Husaberg using a KTM engine would be pretty weird. The only thing that would seperate them would a different frame and plastic. The only reason I could really see buying a Husaberg, is if one did not like the color orange. Even Dirt Rider made the remark that the Husaberg felt very much like a KTM, but with "personality."

IMHO they will share a 250 engine first. but it will happen.

either that or thje fact that ktm are happy to supply sherco and beta etc and tootle along that way.

but it will happen!

With this in mind, another rumour I heard was that the Husaberg would be closed in 07/08. To me it also wouldn't make sense to keep both brands seperate but with the same engine. This would degrade Husaberg to a KTM spinoff like Beta. But then again with those "orange idiots" anything is possible. I think KTM forgets that buyers off a Husaberg aren't automatically KTM buyers in case Husaberg ends. If this were so, they would have bought a KTM in the first place.

I seriously doubt that KTM would have purchased Husaberg only to kill it off. Also there is no engineering stagnation evident that would signal the demise of Husaberg. On the contrary the Berg has surpassed the Japanese enduro bikes and this would not have taken place if someone wasn't on the ball and thinking ahead. BMG has not got to where they are by being stupid. I'm sure they have invested a boat load of money into Husaberg and would have not done so if there was even a hint of Husaberg folding. If this Husaberg experiment works out for KTM I see them as being the General Motors of the off road motorcycling world. Look out Aprilla! Your new motor development may break you but KTM will be waiting with open arms to purchase your stock for pennies on the dollar. And doesn't BMG already have an exclusive Aprilla distributorsip agreement in Canada?

I'm sure some Current Husaberg Owners would PREFER the new KTM Engine to the current design of the "Split the cases" to change a Piston on the 2001 Husaberg Design. Also, a higher reving DOHC would appeal to a larger audience. Husaberg could continue to develop their chassis and retain the awesome stability that we like so much.

The current Husaberg engine is ready to be retired IMHO.

Take it for what its worth.
As long as Husaberg prodcues 2000+ units, it will remain a part of the KTM Group. Last year Husaberg produced 3000+. That was message from factory at Intermot last year.

And we havent even got started :)

KTM is indeed trying to become Europe's biggest manufacturer but aren't they trying to hard maybe? Currently overstock on KTM's is being offered very low prices, a few containers with new bikes were imported back from the US to sell here. Same with Husaberg, our importer bought a shitload of old overstock 01-03 models and now offers them for very very low prices but the new ones are hardly (if at all) being advertised anywhere.
KTM still has some problems to sort out with the 250f which by now is becoming a bit of a joke since the introduction has been put off several times(seasons that is). The new twincam engine is giving problems also if we can believe the comment that was given during the GP last weekend. Apperently the 4s roadracer runs very well but they realised it costs too much and sold the project in time.
As far as I can see it KTM is now just trying to get lower costs for Husaberg and KTM by sharing the same components like ignition, cyl head carb and some other stuff. I would love to see the engine Husaberg would have developed as I was told there was a new type ready in drawing format, with right side kickstart. But it was a NO from the main office.
Husaberg was to be the first when it comes to new and innovatice stuff (at least it was said so in a magazine by some KTM big shot), sort of KTM test center. If this were true, wouldn't Husaberg get the engine first?

I don't know about over the pond, but here in the UK it seems that more KTM go 'bang' than bergs do. Admittedly this may be down to owners and maintenance, but in supermoto they definately seem more unreliable....I deffo wont be buying orange...I'd rather buy a tuned up crf..argh...did I just say that ?

a narrow tank for MX hey! i'll be first in the queue!!!

oh boy i can't wait! odd how everyone stateside wanted a big tamk for that desert riding but racing won!

thing is, i saw an italian SM machine last year with a dinky omeromoto alloy tank and then the biggest mother of a pair of sidepanels out to that same old radiator.

so unless husaberg go to two narrow rads OR take up another 1" going down toward the header pipes (bridging the headers with a dinked in lower tank) somink has got to give!

meanwhile back at the ranch: a certain rider of our illustrious machines has said perfic radiator in his possesion as we speak!

with a budget that will space you all out he is developing this project on a vast R & D budget and behind the borders of north korea.

i'm sworn to secrecy in order to protect him.

watch this space. he promises to leek (spelling correct) out the information as soon as he feels like it.

KTM would most likely keep Husaberg as an experimental mule to release all new technology on. So if things go wrong it won't tarnish the KTM brand. Husaberg has always had the ****** to release left field technology that cops verbal diarrhoea when it goes wrong but other manufacturers take on board when it works.
Cynical brstrd I am.

ciao,

I think (=personal opinion) that SM scene is going to double the sales for SM markets.
-Suzuki is preparing legal bikes in a hurry
-Yamaha is doing the same (new advertisements arrived to papers)
-Kawasaki goes out with KL models
---
KTM is already offering a vast models, maybe also suffering because the "buyer" does not know yet what they really want: reliability for street ride, bar hopping, European style curvy roads everywhere where 170hp is too much .... or racing ready but all the things said before, or two up riding with a girlfriend, or tanks of 15liters.....
Husqvarna is suffering from MV financing, the new model is presented but still not out.... great bikes, italian made, but distribution problems on spares etc....

Husaberg is the Real thing, racing legend, proven out of the box ready street legal bike... It has its challengies with 2 year warranty (European Community law) but more distributors are opening and offering services...

Anyway, in somma,
the SM market is bringing the Enduro and Cross markets a Huge boost and making the SM more fashion .... Market managers have to understand this already, and who has the R6D and production team behind serving the needs of the masses, or serving the created need of the masses, will win,,,,,

I love mine, it makes me living more....

is there any news on a 250 berg i just hope they launch one soon??

No 250 Husaberg for 2006!!!!!!!

We will not see a 250 Husaberg in 2006 that is a fact!!!!!!!!!!!

Off course not: that would mean Husaberg could release one just as fast or even before KTM did(which is getting into a joke by putting this off for a few times now). Remember the 450? Rumor has it that Husaberg had one ready to go and better then the KTM. But wasn't allowed to release it yet.

hello all....
so a new berg 450 engine take it wont be released this year :( im thinking about getting an 06 FC450 for racing :D and with smaller tanks :D although a 5 speed box would be better than the 4 as i was hoping to do a bit of sm on itthis sounds alot better than the ktm 2T i was planning  does anyone know anymore information about the 06s??

If you want to do some SM racing you might consider the FS450c. It has the 6 speed box. You will have to buy new wheels and since it sounds your main goal is MX riding you would probably want to get new forks (that also accommodates the MX brake) and rear shock. A new set of wheels was needed anyway...
Another plus (at least I think so) is that you also get the excellent E-starter. Just a quick (and perhaps somewhat pricey) thought...

Another way is to put on the missing two gears in the 4 speed box.
