06-650 exhaust on an 04-450

I recently bought a stock 06-650 exhaust system to throw on the 04-450. It didn't fit for a couple reasons, the header sections are slightly larger diameter and won't fit into the exhaust bore. The 2 into 1 pipe section looks like it may need a dent in the bottom coming over the top of the clutch cover to fit right. I'm kind of bummed, I thought the system would fit right up. It looks like I didn't do enough homework first.

i also made that mistake and i've been around here a great deal longer!

the cylinder head physically sits lower in the frame on the 400/450. this is the central problem...

did the same thing on my 04 501 with a bit of tweaking went on ok granted the strokes a bit longer than yours only down side is getting to the oil filler plug

I'm going to mic the exhaust bore and the header pipes and go from there....the 2 in 1 section is about 4mm too high.....custom dent?....Scared of the outcome. I have to check the filler plug as you stated.
