Ive marked these points with white paint and use a light to look down the side of the sleeve but its very difficult, the 650 in easy because of the shape of the crank, 450 550 are hard with the round crank journals blocking the view.
But there is another easier way by aligning a punch mark on the bottom side of the balancer weight which you can line up with another mark on the back of shaft gear, with the piston and sleeve in place hold the crank up high in the case you can view these marks easy from the side and rotate until they line up and them push the crank down to engage. The whole dot on the back of the gear has to be visible when the dot on the weight swings past and aligns. I can sent a pic of these marks and how you align them if you cant work it out.
You will find the balancer wants to swing around and go exactly where you dont want it but just tilt the case on the angle that you need and the balancer will follow.
Good luck John ORANGEBERG
