hi guys am new to this site a quick question if i may .I have a 2005 650fe which i bought second hand 3500 kilometers on it have had it about 3 months have taken it for three rides on the last ride noticed when we got back that it had drunk 700mls of oil ,smoke is coming out of exhaust pretty constant any ideas what might be going on or is a motor pull down which is not a drama when you have a motorbike mechanic friend

On the few occasions I have seen heavy smoking and very high oil consumption it has been one thing.Crank bearing failure and piston and cylinder damage from the debris.

wouldn't hurt to take a look at the reed. if its broken or stuck open you will have more oil in the crankcases than you want. its located behind the clutch basket at about 7 o:clock (analog clock of course). cheap fix.
