Running an Akra ti end can on standard header pipes at the moment. Is there any point in swaping the headers? If so what should I consider swapinmg them for, and where is the gain, powere? weight?. Oh and where is a good place to look for a decent second hand set?

ebay is the only place i know of. yes you should definately replace them - they are far too small. mosts systems try to support the OEM tailpipe or vice-versa by meeting at the same place as original. so there is (a lot of) hope for you!

The Akra slip on will only fit the stock headers and vice versa.
This is what the force parts catalouge says about the slip on:
Slipon Titanium Akrapovic silencer 03-04 - 80005079500
Muffler inserts can be removed . Mounting only with original headers possible. 25% weight reduction and more power .
There are two different slip ons. This one for the 03-04 and one for the 05 -> models.
And here is the same info about the "full" system
Factory headers Akrapovic 550/650 - 80005007100
35% weight reduction . Mounting only with factory silencer (Titan Factory silencer Akrapovic 80005079000 ) possible .

Spoke to a couple of people now on the phone who have confirmed that it need to be a full sytem.
The Akro end can for the std headers will not fit Akro headers. Now that I have written it down it makes sense as the Akro headers are much larger diameter.
Now I just need to find a full system second hand or get some headers made up which will fit the Akro slip on.

As usual never got round to replacing the headers as it seemed stupid junking a perfectly good end can. But.... just rode a 450 with a full Akra system and it is as Taffy says the difference between night and day. So now I want a used full system any one out there got one for sale that will fit an 05?
