i searched a bit but couldn't find a concise list of the changes for '05. if i sell my klx i'm thinking about picking up an 04 fe550. can anyone point me in the right place? thanks.

I believe that the husaberg.se website actually lists the changes made to the 05. I went to a dealer and they gave me an 04 brochure. so if you have a dealer close possibly you could ask for one and then glean your info from them both... Of course i am sure within a short amount of time one of the guys on this site will post every thing you need to know from memory.

changes

The only change that sticks out in my mind is that the 05's have titanium valves. Which Lineweaver mentioned somehere, is good and bad depending on you mechanical skills.
If your ever in Reno you can stop by NMS. this is where I bought my 04 550. They should be able to fill you in on any additional changes. Check the classifieds here for a guy selling an 04 in Mexico. 5600.00 plus shipping.

jmumme, i looked at nms when i was in reno last week. i also saw the ad from the guy in las cruces. motoxotica also has one advertised somewhere. as far as i can tell from the 'berg website, only the 450 gets titanium valves for 05.

Hey Mark and welcome to the Great Husaberg Site. Give Dan at Motoxotica a call 707-446-4282 tell him Kraig sent you and that your a CERA Memeber. Look for me at the Moonrocks Ride.

· Kickstart: New designed, better integration into ergonomy of the bike

· Thermostat: New technical part, faster and more effective warm-up, more constant temperature of engine

· Frontfork: New design / homogeneous bending, more exact responsiveness, improved sealing

· Tripple clamp: Less offset for FS models, adjustable from 16 to 18 mm, machined of solid material

· Rearshock: New setup and new spring, more exact response, reduced risk of bottoming, better function

velosapiens,

The fork tubes are more rigid which will reduce/ eliminate the stitchion that the KTM guys complaint about. Instead of removing the third bushing as on the KTM's, the Husabergs have stiffer tubes.

The thermostat would be an advantage for your location, especially during your cooler seasons.

Since you are not a member of the 'wussy man association'
( I think that's what you called us 'c' class riders on KtmTalk) you will appreciate the better suspension.

The KTM's have the same forks as the Berg's for 2005. The 3rd bush mod was for the 2003-2004 model WP forks on both brands.

haha, i'm not too far out of the wussy man class yet.

actually, my 04 ktm 250sx utterly rocks w/o taking out any 3rd bushings. PRS in utah revalved it and the fork is plush yet controlled. supposedly the 05 suspension is pretty dialed tho, so who knows if i would even need a revalve.

at any rate, doesn't sound like all that much changed for 05. it wasn't really clear from the berg website what engine features were new and what were just the same old cool features.

i finally got out on my 300exc yesterday (rode to work offroad), so that has helped me contain my new bike obsession a little. i still think i see a 'berg in my future tho.

Somewhere on the list of 05 changes I remember seeing the addition of an oil jet for the auxillary shaft bearings. (This shaft drives the balancer and camchain) Not sure how important this is

Two items not mentioned so far in this thread:

Completely new exhaust system, headers, collector, and muffler. Trust me on this one. :p

New kickstarter, it's wrapped in nice and tight.

And, they use the new odo/speedo set up that is also on the KTM's.

Different bar pad.

Different graphics, and seat cover.
