I've just replaced the sump plug because it was striped and the replacement one is a solid bolt type which doesn't fit because of a filter or a tube looking thing, can this be pulled out or modified, dose it matter if the new sump plug blocks this pipe of? or do I have to get another sump plug.

Thanks.
Jason.

are you sure that's your drain plug and not your lower filter plug.

I have a 2005 fs650e so I think the cases are the same (almost). I have a magnetic drain plug that sits right behind my lower oil filter tube. I would'nt cut that tube as it's your first oil filter and by removing that tube you can really damage your motor from any large metal particles floating around.

Hi !

Just learned today that 01/02 has dirredent casin than 03-->

The plug "henlithumper" is refering to is for the oilscreen

I would not replace it with anythinh than OEM to not "disturb" the oilflow down there....

heres the numbers for a new one taken from the partscatalogue

10 220 051-01 - Oildrain plug 97-
11 324 034-01 - Washer oildrain plug 97-

if you put the plug in and the strainer is off centre it will make it buckle.

you need to straighten the strainer up so it sits waiting in the middle of the hole. then when fitting the drain bung, feel for resistance when screwing it in from the strainer if it goes 'off-****' again.

if you wrecked the strainer or buckled it for good then you need a new one and to be more careful the next time!

regards

Taffy
