I'M LOOKING AT A 02 FC550 6 SPEED. i HAVE HEARD THAT THE STATOR GOES OUT ON THEM. WILL AN 03 STATOR FIT? IS THE CARBURETOR THE ONLY OTHER ISSUE?
I WOULD BE RIDING IT IN FLORIDA IN THE WOODS. IS THIS A GOOD IDEA TO GET?
IT WILL BE AN EVEN TRADE FOR A 1979 CR250.

FYI, the FC's do not come with electric start, if it has one it would be a FE.

As with all used bikes unless you know the owner really well, it's a crap shoot.

Have a look at the right side center cases right next to the swing arm pivot, they were known to crack there on the early 02's. Have a look at JOEUSA's gallery and you'll see what I mean.

The straight trade for a 79 CR250 Honda I'm assuming seems like a deal that is too good to be true. Proceed with caution.

RE: Re: 02 FC550

Hello bergers. Neewbie geezer here. Am also looking at a 2002 fc550, new and still in the showroom. Have heard of some problems with the 2002. Asking price $6000. Would like to hear some imput.

RE: Re: 02 FC550

my personal opinion, but 6k for an almost 6 year old bike is way out of the question, you can have a NEW 05-06 for that price or an 07 in a few months for not much more than that.

RE: Re: 02 FC550

I bought an 02 chassis with an 03 engine in 2004 for 4000 shipped to my door.

Cheers,

I bought my 02 FC550 for $5600 in 02. I imagine you could buy a leftover 07 for about $1000 more.
