Hi fellas, I was out on a run a couple of weekends ago when my 501 started running a little rough. We stopped for a few straddlers to catch up & when i tried to kick it over again it wouldnt start. Its always been hard to kick from cold but that is just bad technique on my part i think. Ive been tinkering with it for a few nights now & cant seem to get a spark, ive tried disconnecting the kill switch & ive checked the wireing ive read a few threads on the stator & have taken the resistance readings which are
Black-Green 164.6 ohms & no reading at all on Black- Red.I know this is a stupid question but is it the stator? and should i be checking anything else.

if it reeds open on red and black your stator needs to be re wound.

Thanks mule, i thought it was prolly the stator. i have sent a message to sparks & my stator will be winging its way to him very shortly. Once again many thanks.

You seem to have the cause and remedy all in one message!
But your stator is problem. Sparks is the man, so get it in the post soonest! He is really quick for rewind! only prob is the £ is weak to the euro so if you uk...it will not be cheap but less than buying a new one!

my 02-501 always started on the button hot or cold, but you had to crank it for awhile--with sparks rewind its 100% better, well worth the $$

Just to draw a line under this thread. I sent my stator off to sparks for him to rewind. He had it turned round in about ten days (which is exactly what he said he would do) I cant believe the transformation, after standing for over six weeks it started in two or three kicks & now first kick, something its never done ever. Im usually a sweating & knackered mess & the only thing i want to do is kick the bloody bike over onto the ground. So i now have a transformed bike & a massive smile. Many thanks to Mr Sparks.
