01 clutch in an 03

I understand the sprague and other bits need to be matched for the proper year But, will my 01 clutch fit in an 03? Is it a straight swap, or do I have to change other parts too?
 
the trouble is that nothing will keep the 2001 stepped washer central. it lines up with the groove in the gearbox shaft where the 2003 has the 2 x 'C' clips.

THAT makes it very, very difficult. quite why you would want to go backwards - I'm not sure?

Well, my 01 has a efm auto clutch. I was thinking about putting it in the 03 for Offroad and sm the 01.
 
I need to alter what I said earlier. I think that when I tried it, we needed to put a flat washer ON the stepped washer and that could float around.

my memory is going!
