Just sharing this just in case someone else bumps into this problem.

My bike has this problem with the Akrapovic exhaust header starting at ~150 hours. The header just wouldn't stay in place and will drop from the mid-pipe. It causes leaking and excessing back-firing because the header isn't all the way in revealing some gaps in the joint.

The torque spec for the clamp is 8nm and I tried cranking it tighter than that. It didn't help anything, only caused galling on the titanium part. Back to factory torque spec I went.

I tried plenty of things, including dismantling the entire exhaust system and putting them back in the correct order, putting silicone RTV sealant, and none have worked until now.

I bought 2 stainless steel hose clamps, used the stock exhaust spring (for the original muffler), some safety wires, and then simply bolted things together. The spring is hidden behind the pipes.

The first pic is just for reference to the 2nd zoomed in pic. The 2nd pic shows the spring from above the resonance can. Note that the top right corner in the 2nd pic, there is a dark spot from soot caused by leakage in the past.

This setup seems to hold well where my previous attempts would have failed within a test ride. My bike is now at 262 hours. I'm happy that this is finally fixed.

Did you try a new gasket between the header and mid-pipe? Most off the time this helps in my experience

There is not enough space for any gasket when using the Akrapovic header. It's pretty tight fitting.

The stock header is smaller in diameter and comes with graphite gasket. That works just fine though.

What kind of power gain did you get by installing this header? Is it really worth the $ ?

Old thread and cool solution. I just wanted to ask , does the carbon fiber guard still fit after installing this header ?

I put mine back on recently and used some wurth rtv silicone, sealed up great..
