I just got a 1996 FE501 and it needs some parts. My question is where do I go to find parts for this bike? I need front and rear sprockets and chain guides. I am having a hard time finding any parts and was wondering if any parts off of other bikes will fit? Also I got it started the other day and I cant get it to idle down at all. Am I missing something? Any help would be great. Thanks

not enough info all around.
where are you?
your definition of idle needs refining. what have you tried to adjust on the carb / cable?
the chain tensioner on my 98's were junk, i'm assuming yours may be the same. if so, a little ingenuity would be in order. there were companies that sold aftermarket chain guides for them, prolly hard to find.
dan at motoxotica in vacaville, ca might have the parts you need.

Sorry about the info... I am in southern Illinois. As far as the idle I got that taken care of already. You are right my chain guides are junk, mostly because the last owner or the one before that didn't think they were important so they took them off and got rid of them( the swing arm is chewed up but not to bad yet I think its just superficial). I have some hard plastic flat stock that I guess I will use to try and make a new one if I cant fined one to put on. I just wish I had a little bit of a template to go by. Thanks for your help again

attached is a pic of the '98 that had the aftermarket guide. i'm thinking if you made the attaching plate like this one, you could prolly adapt just about any guide to it
