Hi everyone,
I am 6'6" tall and ride a 2004 fe550. I am finally going to mod my bike to actually fit me this year and am looking for some advice. I was going to lift the bars, lower the pegs and maybe get a tall seat but im kind of stuck on a budget.

What do you guys think I should use for a riser? I found 40 mm risers on ebay for cheap, and I also found a riser from http://www.barrisersonline.com/ that may be alittle better but im not sure. What do you guys think? the link to the ebay risers is here: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... K:MEWAX:IT

Do lowering the foot pegs make a big enough difference to warrant spending some cash on? Like I said im kind of low on cash and not looking to break the bank so im wondering if it is worth it.

As for a tall seat, how much does this run? again will this mod warrant the cash spent on it? I looked for some online but couldnt seem to find alot of info on them.

Thanks in advance guys,

Brennen

Brennen, Hi i set my bike up earlier this year i'm 6'1 have a look at the GUTS web site for seats i used a tall hard foam and cover and found it to be perfect for my height not too pricey either and good quality .........colin

i'm 6.5 and done all mine, pegs were a big help. fastway pegs, rtt top clamp 50mm raisers, wds supesion set 25mm higher, std seat

I'm 6'4'' and I've got ee tall firm fastway pegs in the lowboy position and a set of the old thumper racing bar mounts [can't get them any more] and it made such a huge difference in the way I can ride the bike now.

I have the factory tall seat its OK . I think Guts is better foam or just more comfortable. I use the fastway pegs one thing I found is if they get folded back like when you hit rock at speed they are wide so they bend you frame tab for the rear brake (on pre 09 bikes) moving your brake pedal out away from the frame. You might try a brand of peg that no so wide close to frame.

Here is what we do with the pegs. It doesn't gain you a ton, but it's free.

Just grind off the bottom and space it with washers. This is on an 09' but it works for earlier ones as well.

After a few goes at different options, I ended up with the Fastway pegs, they are worthwhile. I have higher, flatter bars than stock, and risers, and the submount for the damper, and a raised seat.

Attached is a bit of a story I did on fixing my seat. May give you some ideas, get a seat from the wreckers and do it.

Thanks guys, i think the risers are the first step in this project for sure so I'll start on that. From there I will ride awile and lower the pegs a bit, and If i get really bored i'll get a new seat. Thanks for all your help, your ideas are greatly appreciated.
