Hi ya, just traded in my XRL for a 05 FE450. Man....what a machine. I don't know anything about this one except it looks really cool and goes like a bat outta hell. Anything I need to know or watch out for on this model? It has about 4400 kms on it and is in excelent shape, it's really been looked after. Thanks.

Welcome,
Change the oil often, say every 5 hours or so. Clean the airfilter aftr every ride. Adjust the valves wjhen it starts getting hard to start.
Thats about it on that one.
Keep an eye out for metal on the sump magnet as this will clue you in to rocker and bearing wear.

I swore the Maintaince chart from official husaberg site says "change oil and filter after every 15 hours or 100 litres of fuel"

Hmmm not trying to confuse you, but I just came upon that.

I asked the shop I bought it from (Berg dealer, Ross Rocher) about that and he said to "be safe, every 500kms for the oil and every 2nd change for the filter". This shop is very well respected around here so I think I'll go with that.

Oil changes are cheap, motors are not. I agree with the oil filter change every 2nd or 3rd time.
You have a new to you bike with no knowlege of what kind of wear has or is occuring. You may want to put a few more frequent oil changes on it so you know what to expect (as far as what comes out on the magnet).
Remember the engine only holds 1 litre of oil and it is nothing like the lawn tractor you rode before.
Hey, if you ride at 100kms per hour you have your 5 hour oil change interval

My 2003 Fe400 has about 200 hrs now. Last bike i had was 2001 xr400. Love my berg! Its like a faithful friend now. Never let me down...and a true joy to ride! I hop on my Dad's newer CRF and it feels like a chinese bike. I bought the berg new and ran non-synthetic 15/40 since day 1 in all seasons (bugger to start in canadian winter). Changed oil every 3-5 hours and cleaned air filter when it's dirt (definitely not every ride). Motor is strong. Doesn't burn a drop of oil....EVER. Just bought my 2nd husaberg off Ross Rocher and can't wait to get it.

Listen to berger. His is the voice of experience and wisdom and he has one of the lowest breakdown rates in all of bergdom.

Since this is my 1st trip to Bergville, I've got my ears wide open.
