Hello everyone - this is my first post. Have been lurking around for about a year. This has been a terrific resource for me to learn about my bike.

Here's what I have been thinking:

I own a 2006 Fe550e. Has been an incredible bike for me. Still in great shape and lots of miles left - purchased new last summer from out of town, only has 20hrs on it.

My local dealership has a new 2008 Fe550e still on the floor.

Assuming it would take $2,500 CDN ($2k USD) to get me on the 2008 - is it worth it?

Pros:
- new bike & warranty
- suspension/jetting/bottom end and other minor refinements
- local dealer is right into the brand and seems like a great guy

Cons:
- cash outflow - timing isn't perfect but can swing it
- 2006 is a great bike

I am a hobby rider and tend to keep my stuff. I think the appeal of the 2008 is that it is the final model year and the past issues have been worked out.

Also, is the Akrapovic slip on worth the $$$? I generally tinker with my bikes which includes piping them up but I saw the sticker price and went :eeeek:!

Thanks for any of your thoughts.

Your 2006 is just now broken in. Unless you just want an 08 I don't think the 2500 would be worth it.

IMHO.

Keep the 06, put some of that 2500 into getting suspension set up proper for you and be happy.

Thanks for your replies

Much appreciated.

Hey I was thinking about picking up an old YZ490 so I could be like this guy :hathat2:

Your dealer is giving you a good price to trade up. If you have the cash to spare I dont think you would be making a bad decision.
