I was looking at Crispins recent pics as they were at the top of the home page but noticed in one of the shots (of the three DCR bikes under an awning) one of the Bergs seems to have the exhaust routing round the right hand side of the engine before cutting back and exiting with the silencer on the left? Can anyone shed any light? Or is it all smoke and mirrors?

No smoke and mirrors Kieran,

What you saw is a 2003 FSc with the original Doma race system attached to it. Doma always used to route the exhaust around that side providing longer and slightly narrower header pipes than the FP and as a result the system always produced better midrange. It's a very nice system and I have one myself.

All the best,
Simon

ditto si's comments. as a carb nut you want the exhaust to the left or everything is unavailable for work.

We have built a few expo bikes with this exaust system.

have you noticed how in the akropovic, the downpipes have joined by the time they meet around under the coolant pipe yet in your last photo above the headers don't join until under the carb.

any thoughts on this? (i'm fishing but you knew that!)

i understand the big bore header and long versus the small bore header and short etc. do you have numbers for the ID on say a std bike then cam'd bike and then yours?

regards

Taffy

Although I'm not going to add any technical worth to this discussion, can I just say that the 2005 Expo model with the carbon fiber body parts is absolutely s@x on wheels!!! Note to self, must get the wife some carbon fiber lingerie for Christmas.....mmmmmm :D

To run with 2 separate pipes as far as possible its easier to step up in diameter on ae pipe and at what length you prefer to step up.

We prefer a straight as possible pipe then step up i 4 steps as shown on the expo bike 2006.
