Hello and **** off! 00ps was that my outside voice??##%$# Sorry, thats the standard greeting on the Aprilia forum no offence intended.


Anyway my question is what is the max speed a 450 berg reach with a long stright and best gearing?

Will a KTM 450 be faster than the berg?
Has anyone ran it for outright top speed.

I have to beat a pesky honda.

Thanks for any info and advice on how to do this.
 
welcome to UHE fella, no idea where you are from or the sport you're on about?

so which sport are you on about here?

the engine is very, very light compared top all the opposition. the 450 could have been a 550 or 650 so it's well used to the stress. however it only holds 1-litre of oil so it would need replacing every ride.

if it's for the new road racing class it would be quite interesting..... it's VERY oversquare at 100 x 57 and it can rev to the sky. all you can ask is for an engine to reach it's best mean piston speed for the stroke and the husaberg 450 can do it. so DOHC may give you no advantage here.....

the whole bike is very, very light BTW.

Im looking for all out top speed, has anyone approched 120 mph? if so what gearing. How fast will the berg go? Also do you hae any HP numbers for the 450? Free Mods to release extra HP?
 
That's just over 190 kph. That puts a whole new slant on "rev to the sky". I think you would be "revving to the moon".

120 mph on a Fe 450 = no way. What kind of racing are you talking about--Supermoto, Road, dirt, etc?

Top speed of the 450, and this is a guess (stock gearing) is going to be low 90's mph.

At the speeds you are asking about, you're about 200cc shy of the proper Husaberg.

Stock HP is going to be low to mid 40's, depending on the day and dyno.

faired that can be done with ease but supermoto - nope. no can do.

that's two of us asking now? what for? where in the world?

i could probably find a true 46 - 48 at the rear wheel. you could try a different bore and stroke and go for 97 x 60 same as the yamaha.

i need a holiday.....

Ok thanks for the info, I just came to this forum to talk to the experts,I had just heard that the bergs were very powerfull. I might have to go with something else to beat that honda, he is at 115. My Yamaha won't do it, best was 110. Fairings not allowed and must be factory stock. A properly tuned honda will do 56-57 hp, yamaha slightly less. So till researching, maybe a KTM ??? Thanks guys cheers

the yam 450, either wr or yz, and the honda 450 are renouned for being amongst the most powerful 450's out there though i find the claim that a cr 450 is doing 115 mph a bit of a claim.

whilst i have little doubt that it might get it with the right gearing, that gearing would probably have to be so high as to effect the rideability of the bike at lower speeds.

You guys must have some special 450's, ones that make 57 hp box stock. The top baja racers only approach 115 on the dry lake beds, and they are on 70 hp big bores.

Maybe top speed on pavement makes a difference, it hadn't occured to me to use a dirt bike for this purpose.

i think he is unable to hear the PHUQING question. maybe he's just dim. maybe he'll now go away....

a SOHC husaberg will lack the development time that is doted upon the jap 4 and katoom. you ride a husey "because it's there"!

Ok, I just came here to get some info about the bergs from guys in the know, I figured I would go to experts, because I did not know much about Husaberg. I clearly stated in proir post I'm looking for all out top speed and what the proper gearing would be and asked if anyone had any info on top speed runs. Your jumping to conclusions to think I'm trying to bash bergs. I would love to take a Husaberg KTM, Husky or anything non jap to do what i'm going to do. No I'm not dim, been around for a long time and lots of thoughts don't occure to some people and yes a honda will approch 115 and yes my yamaha will do 110. Did someone say dry lake beds?? bingo I'm Sorry you get offended when you don't know everything your problem not mine.

dont think anyones been offended its just that most people here aren't that bothered about extreme top speed as they use the bikes for more normal forms of off-roading rather than flat out speed runs.
i would actually suggest that if you want a non-jap 450 bike to beat your mates i would say a husky 450, which is also renowned as a powerhouse from stock, would be the way to go.

First of all welcome to the site.

In regards to your above post, I know it's reply, however, I think what Taff was on about was the fact that you came here to ask questions, and get some help. That's what this site is all about. However, when the members here ask questions in regards to your post, I personnally just think it's courteous and helful to the membership here to answer them, so that in the future the information will be available to everyone.

So, just to clear things up what we'd like to know is:

Where are you from? This is important for tuning.

What sport or goal is it that you are in to? This is important as we have a section dedicated to Super Moto.

And further, once we know that information one of us will probably remember seeing a related thread somewhere and will direct you there.

If you look under my alias here and go to find all posts by DaleEO, somewhere in there is a thread where I took the primary ratio of the motor and calculated to top speed in each gear for a given RPM using a set final drive ratio, and a given tire size, you should be able to glean from that post the math of it and play around with final drive ratio's to come up with some theoretical speeds at given RPM's. Of course, this will only go so far, as wind resistance becomes a major factor.

If you are into dry lake beds, for outright speed checks, drags or whatever, I expect that down low pulling power may not be so high on the agenda, accordingly if this is the case, then a substantially higher drive ratio may work for you.

I have had my stock FE550e (that is the trail / enduro version) out to 150kph, and that is not near the throttle stops, as I did not have the desire to go any faster. However you might get a better result from one of the FC (motocross) or FX (dessert) bikes with a 6 sp tranny and some appropriate gearing.

I rode a 2001 FC501 once and it was more revvy than the FE550, and a bit lighter again.

If you think that the Hbg 650 is not enough, then you have your work cut out. I would be looking at the TM660 (if you can find one). I have ridden the TM530mx and it is blazing fast, but the 660 will smoke it! TM only makes the 660 as a SM bike, but I suspect that TM would gladly build you a sand rocket.
 
I know this info won't help 'cause it pertains to the 550, but my '05 FE550 is bone-stock. With 3500miles on the motor we clocked it with GPS at 105mph (speedo indicated 108- I was surprized it was that close). Stock gearing, I weigh 185#, altitude was about 200ft near San Luis Obispo, 80degF.

From what I am reading here, the guy is doing speed trials in a 450cc class. If you can get a 450 to make nearly 60hp and not be a granade, then you have some secrets to share.
If your competion is on a Honda, and is doing 120 mph with it in MX body trim, I would suggest a protest and teardown of that machine, to see if she's really a 450! My guess is it explodes regularly, or it is not a 450, or it has a hidden power adder(nitros). Aerodynamics of an MX machine is horrid, and the amount of power needed to get these speeds is off the chart, good luck with any brand 450.

One other factor, may be the cubic $ to speed ratio, 115 mph may be cheap, but 120mph may suck your bank account into a vaccume!

Holy cow you must be the smatest guy on the forum. , Some of these tards just don't read. Not that the Honda is doing 120. thats my goal for a pass. anyone who says a 450 will not aproch 115 does not know a lot but think they do. I currently have a bike that has good possibilities, and yes it cost a lot to go fast. (cube the MPH) lets see if any tard knows what that means. (where's Daffy)
