Congrats to Rory.

Hopefully, BOSS or one of the Sullivans will chime in and tell us more.

Rory at WORCS

Rory at the WORCS race in Kent…….. Saturday afternoon we spent the practice setting up the suspension. Dan Moore of Evo Suspension services in Cle Elum was there to help as was Eric Cleveland (ISDE Rider) and Tom Conner.
The 550/501 came with an 84-250 rear shock and after much discussion we decided to go with a 76-250 and 105 mm of sag + - Front stayed stock with one turn of preload from stock. Both ends got a little more compression and the rear we let some rebound go.

The course was short and basically single track with the exception of one lap on the MX track. Some of the areas in a clear cut became multi track with the creativity the Pro Riders brought to their efforts 8O It was to be a 2 hour sprint, imagine a 3 mile or so trail, 30 bikes in 2 hours. 10 laps so the speed average was 16 mph or so.

The start was 150 feet to a hard left turn, turning back 45 degrees back towards the start.
Lots of riders got squeezed out to include Rory and Bonds.

The first lap was follow the leader if your were back in the pack. Rory came around in about 26 the place :( However true to his gutsy riding style by lap 9 he was in 11th.

Off he went on the last lap chasing a top ten place. About a half mile or less from the finish we say Rory come out from some trees and he stopped (our hearts stopped also) he leaned the bike to the left (sheet he is out of gas) he straightened the bike back up and got going again at which time Kyle Summers passed him back (Rory would later say he ran Kyle down on lap 10) and at the finish Rory was right on his rear tire.

When Rory crossed the finish line he bike quit….we all were shocked, since after Emmett Idaho we were all over gas consumption.

What had happened was that Rory had also thought he had run out of gas, so when he leaned it over (desperate for something since the Husaberg feeds from both sides on the Omero tank, he found that one of the gas lines had come off…………

Lady Luck had blessed Rory with enough gas to finish……….. :D

I am just the dad.....but I will share what I can.........the 84 per Rory at this venue gave the bike a foward feel. Rory indicated that the front was soft and dropped and the rear was stiff, leaving him a feeling of going over the bars.

One turn of preload in practice and slowing down the rebound helped in practice which had limited time alloted.

To balance the bike Dan felt that the 76 would soften the rear yet still be able to keep te sag at 105 mm + -....

We debated over a 80, but the 76 won out and Rory was quite pleased.

As we all know suspension is everything.

Thanks for sharing. I have often wondered about using the 76 spring, since I am only 180 lbs and tend to stand over the front, hence I find the rear end often doesn't "settle in" as I would like.
Am I correct to assume that Rory is riding a 496?
BTW, congrats on the results, we expect more (of this and better) from Rory in the future. Also, you are in good hands with BOSS (but you already know that!).

Thanks for the great write-up and congratulations on a top ten finish to Rory! Sounds like he did a great job working his way through the pack after the hole shot bottleneck.

Best of luck on the next race!

Excellent result and thanks for the report. I've seen the RH fuel tap broken off of the tank a couple times ( only on the OMERO ), and Joakim Ljungren has the RH side welded closed and runs off the LH side only to prevent problems. Anyway, keep up the good work!!!
