This is the FE501 I'm looking at (see my other thread for details). I was told it's a 2000, but the pics of other 2000's I've seen say it isn't. Can anyone identify the year?

Hi sarge,

Defiantly pre 2000 it has the square box section swing arm and conventional forks.

Regards

Sparks.

prob about 99 vintage.

little known fact that bergs came originaly with inverted forks then only swapped to conventional forks for a couple of years before going back to inverted.

Sarge,

Im no expert but I'd wager that it is a '97 or '98, there are some guys on here who have them around that vintage, looks like a pretty reasonable specimen.

a bit of yellow splashed about on that house back there an' youd have a Husa-house.

Azza.

so which does yours look most like?
i think i got it right.

plus go into the owners doc up on the left or the screen and the very first item in "1." will tell you how to id the bike.

Is a 99. 99 was only year with new style ignition (can tell that by the aluminum rather than plastic cover) and old body styling.

Dan is correct.
99 was also the only year with a silver frame.

Yep, it's a '99. The tenth character is an 'X'.
Guess I'll have to lower my offer by $150.00!!

Thanks for the help!

Sarge1400,
My guess was a '99 but some sit in a dealership for a bit of time and then get squeezed out on a later plate... due to the date of registration and not manufacture!

Just perusing the posts here and wham, there is my old Berg. I sold this bike a year and a half ago. Great bike. Loved it. Let me know if you want any history on the bike.

Damn, the pre 2000 bikes are ugly. I guess 2000 was a revelation for HB fans as the 2000 bike was very cool. Escpecially comparing to others on the market.
