KTM launches its 2008 Enduro range

Published: 26th April 2007

KTM really is forging ahead at a relentless pace with its off-road development and the Austrian giant has just stolen a significant march on all its rivals by announcing details of its 2008 EXC Enduro models!

The truly awesome seven-bike range encompasses four class-leading, state-of-the-art two-strokes - all of which importantly and notably pass the stringent Euro 3 homologation tests - plus three four-strokes which comprise an updated 250EXC-F Plus exciting new 450 and 530 EXC-R models which share a brand-new XC4-designated engine for even more performance.
All the two-strokes: 125EXC, 200EXC, 250EXC and 300EXC-E sport brand new lighweight frames and a new ‘plastic shell’ for up-to-the-minute looks. The 300EXC-E features the revolutionary electric start - launched late last year - although you still get a kickstart as well.
The class-leading 250EXC-F is treated to a new exhaust camshaft, slimmer rocker arms and new titanium valves and an optimised ignition curve for even more response from the engine room.
The real big news though is the new 450/530 EXC-R models (pictured) which feature a brand new lightweight engine that incorporates electric start - in addition to the kick-start. The electric start is a huge advantage when you find yourself in trouble late in a race and you are tired. Just hit the button!
The OHC four-valve cylinder head is of advanced design for even more performance with improved rideability the aim rather than simple peak horsepower.
The lubrication system is also advanced with two separate circuits so that any clutch and gearbox debris cannot contaminate the engine.
Suspension (all models) is WP 48mm USD up front coupled with brand new fully adjustable PDS rear shock mounted on a new swinging-arm for optimum performance.
The new plastics work in harmony with the chromoly oversize oval steel tube frame which is claimed to be one of the most stable and lightweight designs on the market.
Once again, KTM is ahead of the game on all fronts with a truly world-beating selection of machines and we look forward to bringing you further updates - and pictures - regarding the exciting new 2008 models - plus of course the very first test when they are launched...

The fuel tank looks like a bergs and the rear end is butt ugly (in my opinion)

Cheers

Mark

I think that the rear end looks a little cluttered, I do like the overall look of the bike though, it was their loss for not consulting us, but hey if they were to really twist my arm I'd be willing to take one and thrash it till it dies. For a small fee of course....

I really want to see 08 berg´s¡¡¡¡ any picture out there any spy in Mattighofen factory¡¡¡¡

Cheers

Also realize that this photo of the KTM is pirated, and not released officially.

I kinda like this one.

KTM is starting in the Baja 500 with a brand new sports prototype machine. This race is a shortened version of the legendary Baja 1000. KTM’s rally factory team members Cyril Despres and Chris Blais will be riding together with the Baja specialist David Pearson.

Prototype of the new Husaberg tank 2008 was sighted! Version ability approx. 7Ltr. Very beautiful narrow seating position and not like that highly within the front range thereby equivalent better and further come forward!

That tank looks great.

Whats up with the air filter located on the right side ??

The new KTM looks pretty good. As always, don't forget it only looks good until you ride it, after that it's a dirt bike and the looks don't really matter.

More pictures of the new KTM 2008, I have to say that I don´t like the rear, looks like the MX.

Cheers

If KTM now cancel to 400 model. Will that give us a Husa 400 this year?
Seams strange to not have a 400 model, since it widely popular.

Here's a quote from July Dirt Bike:

"Originally we thought that the 2007 450SXF motor might find its way to a Husaberg before going into any KTM off-road models. Husaberg is supposed to be the company's platform for new technology. But now it seems that an all new motor will go straight into the XC line and the old motor will be left to the dual-sport models. The new powerplant looks like the SXF motor but will have a single overhead cam."

Very interesting. I stopped by the local KTM dealer today, said no specs or info on 2008 is available until end of the summer. I was considering a 08 530 exc because of the split crank and tranny oil, as well as the new motor, providing the bore and stroke changed. I am debating between a FE550 and the 530 because the closest Husaberg dealer is 4 hours away and KTM 5 mins. However, I want a shorter stroke motor, the 550 is perfect and i was hoping KTM would move the new EXC motor closer to it. We'll see.....
Aaron.

I've heard from my dealers that there will be only few changes on a 2008 Husaberg models, however in 2009 Husaberg is planning to present a completely new bike with a new engine on which they have been working for several years.
