New valve cover, new cam, new rocker arms. Not sure of the exact cost but it will be a few $$$.

What were the condition of the rocker arm rollers? Maybe one of the rollers seized wearing down the cam lobe?

i sufered something similar, i need put new cams, rollers and valvle cover repair about 700€

I htink that supertireguy is right that looks like a roller bearing failure, perhaps caused by lack of lubrication, I am really surprised that the bike ran long enough to wear the cam lobe that far down. Last time I checked rocker arms were $132 apiece, cam bearings were 14$ apiece U.S. currency, not sure on the cam price.

I noticed my rocker arm rollers had become a little crunchy (still rolling but not smoothly) at 120 engine hours. In my case I'm 99% positive it was not due to any oil starvation, just normal wear and tear.

I replaced them at that time but it's certainly an important component for everyone to inspect at regular intervals. The owners manual service schedule probably lists the inspection interval. Just roll your finger on the roller and confirm the rolling action is smooth.

I dont think this needs much head scratching on this site........

I presume this is an 01/02/03 bike ??

Poorly designed cam profile = accelerated wear of intake rocker bearing (especially if you like to run it at high RPM  ) = bearing failure = subsequent bearing lock up = roller tip drags, not rolls on cam lobe and wears through cam hard facing.

Husaberg specifies a 50 hour replacement time on the rocker arms on the earlier bikes....and you can see why....

What amazes me is that of all the bikes I have seen do this- I have never, ever seen a cam worn to that level.

The noise must have been intolerable??

My 98 fe 600 cam lobes looked like that, every lobe almost. bike still ran but it was a pain to start... go figure, new cam, new rockers and bearings, bike was good to go...

what year and model?

'we' think it is 2002. you must either (cheaper) renew cam follower bearings or (expensive) buy later rocker arms with better cam follower bearings.

your camshaft needs reprofiling which costs a lot of money so you should buy a LATER camshaft which is 'kinder' to the follower bearings. to reprofile to a standard husaberg camshaft design is possible. you need a friend (or husaberg dealer) with a later cam who will let you send your cam and their cam to a machine shop. they will copy the profile of the later cam to your cam.

you must keep good oil in the husey AND check for other important updates you should 'think about' on your bike.

good luck and do ask questions. we are here to help.

Taffy

the funniest is that my Husaberg Fe 400 2000 was still running on this.. I`ve changed oil about 5mth ...he was weak but I came back home from wood ( 40 km ). valve cover Im just welded..now I sent cam to renew and I hope it will be ok :)
