Hello,

I am looking for a combo motard/dirt bike at the moment. Probably about 60% street riding, and 40% in the dirt, no competition racing.
I have come across a pretty well priced FS650e 2004 model with two full set ups (dirt and road). I was just wondering if anyone has any experience riding a bike released as a motard as a dirt bike (with knobbies)? Does the shorter shocks bottom out? Do you even notice it? (Keep in mind I wont be doing any freestyle 60 foot backflips, although do spend a little bit of time on motocross tracks)

Any comments appreciated.

Cheers,
Luke

I'm curious to see what other experiences are too. I have the exact same bike & year (bought it because it was a good deal too) but am getting dirt wheels for it soon. I don't know for sure yet how it will handle because I'm in the middle of rebuilding the entire engine (bought it busted). I was thinking if it bottoms then to remove the spacers from inside the suspension that limits the travel for SM use or even better get a separate set of suspension...$ My guess is if you are 40% light enduro use you should be fine.

I use my current FS, and earlier, on every surface and with any type of tyre.
I choose the FS because my main type of riding is SuMo and the rest is just a bonus. Naturally the bike is a bit stiff for enduro and MX riding but I think it works great.

A couple of pics from our latest pleasure trip. I jumped alsmost the same height every time.

Nice pics, and good example of suspension compression. I noticed you kept the front brake at 310mm - any issues with that on clearance with roots, rocks, etc? I was going to pick up a use KTM front brake assembly to swap on & off...
