I was talking to a Police officer at the Adalanto GP last year and asked him to aim his radar gun at Ty Davis and he got 105mph. Guys do go very fast on dirt as I thought he might have been at 97 or so. Chester--one of the owners of NMS hit 105 on his 550 in a few races this year in the Nevada desert. ( 50+ expert by the way)

We need to organize an effort to Dirt Bike that is friendly but direct, and just let them know that we want some answers,or we are moving our business.

It is a universal language that most understand.

We could start this with a chain email and when we have a bunch of names send it to them.

What do you think Brett? ( you could handle the opening statement to keep it business like)

BOSS, I will keep reading it at the grocery store, as far as I am concerned.

When they acknowledge our brand exists, then we'll see.

seems that maybe just maybe that they might not have had a chance to test
anything from BMG on Brett's watch!!Keep your eye's open for something coming
from them sometime soon!!I think Brett keep's a good handle on things for the
short time he has been doing business for all of us!!!!
 
With the exception of the Berg tests (lack thereof) I definitely prefer DB over DR. DR is just a clothing catalog with some articles hidden in there. DB actually has some tests and some decent articles.

The only DR issue I really like is the 24hr report.

There is nothing counter productive about speed on an enduro bike or any bike is there?

Boss, I haven't done an accelaration test in 20 years at a qualifier. Funny, I had completely forgot about those.

I was going to mention that I have been 65+ in a few special tests at qualifers.
 
acceleration is not speed. speed is simply instantaneous velocity.....

Acceleration is the rate of change of speed and that would be interesting to see to a point, but in my view knowing either the acceleration capability or the top speed ability of a dirt bike designed for enduro use beyond the 65+mph mark is useless info, unless you're a desert racer/rider. Are long distant desert races considered enduros? they certainly require endurance and speed.

in my small world enduro means tight nasty single track and maybe an occassional open trail.

This doesn't have anything to do with Dirt Bike sucking, but I love a good thread hijack as much as anyone:

For a proper explanation and demonstation of a "speed test" once done at the ISDE and other enduros, please reference the all-time classic "On Any Sunday", starring Malcom Smith. There is a nice segment in the film showing an acceleration test.

a) enduro's have transfer sections too, and a 550 or 650 can get up to 65mph in a ridiculously short period of time.

b) offroad bikes are also used for dezert racing, and even the mran and mrann dezert races (which are generally fairly tight and technical by dez standards) have a few higher speed sections.

anyway, the whole idea of racing is to go fast.
 
ok I knew I was guessing in the dark on this.... being a newbie, I misread the comment about top speed as that's important in itself, when really it must be a cover comment to mean acceleration ability and max speed range.

got it. yeah, I like my fe450e it gets going fast real quick in the woods. In the open it poops out, gets gappy, etc. thereby need the 550/650
 
I haven't read the entire thread, but...

I saw Husabergs in the Dirt Bike Buyers guide section...look more carefully, they are there.
