Just thought I would add that I have the Husaberg skid plate on my 06 450E, and find no problems with it. I did add some heavy plastic sleeves to my water pump hose, zip tied em on. They were the octagonal things on my wifes garden hoses that go right by the end to keep the hose straight, and they are blue. Wife has not noticed the missing things. I also removed some material from the bottom of the plate so that I can drain the oil without removing the plate. Anyhow, the Husaberg factory skid plate gets two thumbs up from me!

I'm also running the Husaberg plate with no problems. I did ty-rap some rubber gasket material over the exposed hose though. By the way, Jay at Hyde Racing finally responded today to my many e-mails and said the refund check would be in the mail soon. ::roll:

Anyway, he told me that the only good skid plate you guys can get (with good waterpump protection) is from Italy and that it retails for about $160. Are there any others available to you Husabergers that are very good quality and offer good enduro (not mx) type protection.

great quality, thick metal, under $100, takes a good beating and still maintains it's shape

RE: Re: Skid plates for Husaberg?

Yes, that's the one I was looking for, Brian, thanks. I remember your plate and it was beefy and quite protective.

Problem is they don't list Husaberg as their available brands.

In the "Select a make" drop down menu, select other.
Then select "Husaberg".

You're welcome! :D

Take note; the Utah Sportcycle skidplate offers zero waterpump protection. Go back in this thread to view a picture posted by Risky1. It was designed years ago when Bergs had their waterpump located up high driven by the cam shaft.

 Did not work the first time. Oh yeah, but... I have the new Internet Explorer!!!

It can only be better than what I have, which is nice, but does not protect against lower rocks.

I'll throw in another vote for Boss' setup. Tough, light, and outstanding protection.

I use one of these on my 05 650
The other side has good protection for the water pump and hose etc.

Yep, thats the one I had ordered. Unforunately my 2005 FE550 pipes swing a lot lower than yours for some reason and it didn't fit. I returned the skid plate a month ago and still no refund. :bounce:

It seems that when you drop the oil, this type of plate will capture some of it and it could be a bit messy? Or do you guys have a technique?

Yeah, I remove mine to drop the oil. Takes 1 minute to get it off and 3-4 minutes to put it back on.

Just 4 bolts, zip zip with my cordless drill and a 5mm hex bit.

Latest update on my refund for the non-fitting skid plate that I returned. No money has been received, so I finally filed a complaint with E-Bay. Jay of Hyde Racing sent me an e-mail tonight calling me a f*cking jerk! :finger:

you can cost him much more damage than you have unfortunatly lost, so ignore him and let your fingers do the talking on all of the pertinant websites... although I am sure that you wish you could punch him the mouth... I have been there.

Last night after I forwarded him the official e-mail showing I had filed a complaint, he paid me back on PayPal but managed to issue a few more insults while doing so. Pretty amazing for someone in the retail industry to act so childish and irresponsible.

Motoxotica has a Utah Cycles (?) skid plate that is very similar to the Husaberg plate. The price is in the $75 range. It has the letter H cut out on the front of the plate, looks pretty sweet. I have one on my 05' fe450 and it fits great.

all that is, is the Moose Racing Skid Plate (parts unlimited) but it does not have the water pump protection that the factory one does...cheap, heavy duty, but not the best protection

You know, we (Bike Barn) have 4 off-road demo Husabergs and everyone has the factory Skid Plate on it....these fit awesome, they are vented so you still get lots of air-flow across the motor, and they are nicely made...I dont understand why more people dont buy these...its not like they are that much more than the Moose Skid Plate and it protects better. I have a Moose Plate on my shelf (brought it in for one of our demos) and opted to spend more to install the Factory one.

That large black pastic one is a great idea, but it looks like it would prevent alot of needed cooling airflow. It would be nice if someone made a quick-release version like the factory KTM one.

BOSS makes a nice water pump hose guard in case you wanted to just run a glide plate.

my $0.02

I love Boss's regular guard. It's lightweight, doesn't reverberate noise, protects everything well, and it looks funky in a cool way. Maybe I just love the Boss, or maybe I'm saying that because he included a great tee shirt when I last ordered something from him. :D Seriously, Boss's bash plate is the bees knees.
