Skid plates for Husaberg?

Hi,

CODan here.

I have a friend that is a Husaberg dealer. I make some pack and bag accessories for dirt bikes.

Anyway, he told me that the only good skid plate you guys can get (with good waterpump protection) is from Italy and that it retails for about $160. Are there any others available to you Husabergers that are very good quality and offer good enduro (not mx) type protection.

I'm thinking that this might be a niche I could fill with a quality part.

Here is a skid plate that looks good. I dont know who makes it. It is on my buds 380.

That looks like the OEM husaberg skid plate,pretty good really.Boss makes one as well.

I bought the Hyde Racing skidplate and had to return it. My 2005 FE-550 headers drop lower than the one shown in the photo. Seemed to be very well made, though.

I had the same problem, just trimmed off the top....no problem. Not something I felt I should have to do with $100 peice of plastic.

Motoxotica has a Utah Cycles (?) skid plate that is very similar to the Husaberg plate. The price is in the $75 range. It has the letter H cut out on the front of the plate, looks pretty sweet. I have one on my 05' fe450 and it fits great.

I have the same skidpate also. The Hyde Racing skidplate is lighter and covers the exposed water pump hose and othe parts also much better. He did tell me that in the future he will make a new one to fit the newer models.

Got mine from Bergdaddy, made for XR 650 but fit perfect! Good protection crash tested many times. Custom Sharkfin helps too.

I had that skid plate installed when i bought the bike fron Dan, no offense to Motoxotica, but I am always worried about one good fall on either side and hat rock that the skip plate is supposed to protect me from will push the edge of the skid plate into my case. I am pulling it off and going to go with one that has better coverage and where the edge of the plate does not ride withing 1/4 inch of the case!

Here are a few more views of the factory skidplate from Husaberg. Although fairly spendy, this skidplate offers excellent protection to the cases, waterpump and hose. I have found that with the way it is shaped, it helps deflect away from large obstacles ie; boulders which helps protect the shift and brake levers as well. It's also very nice looking! 8O

Whatever you decide to do, don't deal with Hyde Racing. I returned the skid plate that didn't fit my 2005 Fe-550 and he will not refund my money.

I know where not to buy. I guess we need to pass the word around, this guy has to be put on the UHE S... List.
