Great stuff. You swedes sure know how to use a camera. I have seen more photos of the Swedish Winter Enduro than all the WEC rounds in 2005! Got anymore? My computer is a shrine to the swedish enduro god!

Sorry i won´t sent any detailed photos due to loyalty to my friends at HUSABERG MOTOR AB.

Hi Magnusson,
Great pictures!

For over a decade the OEM air filter to carburetor inlet boot has been a known source of restriction. Personally I have net up to a 6% peak power improvement when allotted the liberties of a prototype chassis. It appears via picture #2 the inlet has been addressed.

I understand the race engines are less balancer, have a near 14:1 compression ratio, Del-West 37 / 32.5 Titanium valves and revised main bearings.

I completely understand if you cannot comment.

If presented the opportunity please give my best to Roland.

Sincerely,
Dale

Call me slow Dale, but I don't immediately see any difference in the intake track from these pix... can you share...

Hi Ken,
To me the inlet boot appears larger, of a different shape and angle then that of the norm.

I could very well be wrong and such simply my perception as a result of the camera angle and / or Aluminum tank.

Simply an observation open for discussion.

Sincerely,
Dale

senza parole

Very nice pics and the results from Sweden were outstanding !!!
Great riders, great motos !!!
Also a big hand to Mr Pohjamo with TM....

Ok Dale i will say hi to the doctor. i will call him later to night.

I am sorry to say that my ex. Björne Carlsson 550 is for sale now.
I sure will miss that pussycat. Now it´s time for a smaller summer bike, perhaps a 380?!

I promise not an orange.

Hi Magnusson,
Yes, please do give my warmest regard to both Roland and Marita Ohrn.

Two of the finest people I have ever had the pleasure of sharing home brewed spirits and coffee.

Tell them my home is their home just as they provided for me.

I have Rolands phone numbers, however, have refrained from calling as it is very expensive. Has he yet to get an Email address and if so does he actually use it? Perhaps you could forward it to me (with his blessing of course) as I have many pictures I believe he would truly enjoy.

[email protected]

Thank you in advance.

Sincerely,
Dale

PS
If you would be so kind please ask Roland if he recalls us chasing a wild Moose upon a return trip from a roadrace outing. Roland does a wicked Moose call. :D LOL

Wow that beautiful aluminum tank and those studded knobby tires are the biz.

I gotta try riding on the ice someday.

Since the balancers do not seem to be a problem, post 04,and there seems to be a general consensus that they are of some handling benefit why do you feel they are missing from these new WEC bikes.

Ouji Board. LOL
Sales, Marketing and / or Merchandising consensus?

Seriously, I have industry related friends in Europe.
The secret "their are very few secrets".

Kind Regards,

I recall Taffy saying, for one ,that he was going to re-install his balancer because he felt the bike worked better with it than without it.
For the record Dale, are you saying that a properly rebalanced crankshaft with no balancer is superior or equal to the stock configuration,in every case!

Hi Nsman,
For the record Taffy did not balance his crankshaft and no I would never make such a statement as in "every case" regarding anything.

"Proper state of tune is rarely generic." . A performance engineer / tuners job is to hone equipment to fit the particular needs of his / her client.

Sincerely,
Dale

Yes ,you are correct, Taffy did not rebalance his crank.Language can be a funny thing, after reading my post it sounds to me that I am trying to make you say something, but such is not the case.Sincerely I want your opinion ,what advantage do you feel a non counter balanced engine would have in WEC competiton where continued high rpm operation may not be the norm.Do you see the counter balancer as merely a concession to make a race engine more rideable/docile for the average owner?

Hi Nsman,
Taking into consideration that you are a Husaberg dealer and the controversial nature of the subject are you certain you wish for me to answer?

I am serious.

I value your opinion, and have never been afraid of a little controversy.please lets hear it!

In my opinion the axial mount balance assembly and integrated crankcase / cylinder have more to do with marketing than function.

The current SOHC KTM engine is for all practical purposes a pre 2001 Husaberg. Such did not settle well with Husaberg staff hence the push for something new. Enter the 2001 Husaberg. Albeit heavier, slower and more complex.... indeed very different.

Such is the short, non technical version.

Sincerely,
Dale

PS
Do not expect the WEC bikes to be of 630 cc displacement.
