Took a drive to Swaffham enduro practise track today, i took both my bikes as neither have had a run after full motor rebuilds.
I pulled into the paddock area and saw a guy messing with a berg great i think better go have a word brother an all that crap, well it turns out to be our own taffy,i got on well with him and he is a real nice fella.
I took my XR200 1981
wasn't sure if it was the right bike for a modern track but it turned out i could ride it well and fairly fast.
I also took my 550 Husaberg but that was a ***** to start and it was the 1st time i have ridden it for about 6 months in wich time it has had a FULL motor rebuild and a fcr 41 so i perciverd and it started, turns out my 15 48 gearing was so tall it made me a 100mph kind of dirt rider now thats tricky in the trees, i had a good few laps on taffy's 400 wich was nice to ride and funny as it sounds i could ride it standing up with ease my bike is always a challenge to ride standing, Taffy's auto clutch is ace but it would have been good if he had told me that he has no foot brake this is not a mone just made my hart beet fast as i thrashed it into the 1st tree shod corner and felt for the rear brake pedal boy that 1st corner was fast and scarey.
All in all i think all Taffy's time and effort have paid off big time as it just rides so forgivingly, his bike looks well used but rides as good as any new bike could. WELL DONE Taffy and thanks its nice to try other bikes.
