JOHNNY MURPHREE
TO CONTEST THE INAUGURAL MANUFACTURERS
WORLD CUP ICE RACING CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!

Johnny Murphree, the popular 25 year old dirt track racer who started his career at the legendary Lodi Cycle Bowl in California, has committed to compete in the Inaugural Manufacturers World Cup ICE Racing Championships. The first and second events in the 12 race national series take place respectively at the Rose Quarter Memorial Coliseum in Portland, OR on December 16th and the Everett Events Center in Everett, WA on December 18th.

Murphree embodies the spirit of the new Manufacturers World Cup series which is to attract top riders from all motorcycle racing disciplines to compete on the level playing field of ICE! He is a classic example of the modern day motorcycle racing multi-tasker. A premier national dirt oval track racer, Murphree was invited to compete in this year's X-Games SuperMoto Championship held in Anaheim, CA. He started 19th and worked his way up to a very respectable top 10 finish in the event that was seen on national television. Now Murphree is adding Manufacturers World Cup ICE Racing to his already impressive resume.

The Manufacturers World Cup Series is designed to showcase the world's top riders as well as the major motorcycle manufacturers most technologically advanced machinery. Specifically their state-of-the-art 450cc, 4-stroke, single cylinder, 4-valve head, off road super bikes. These extremely powerful, lightweight aluminum framed factory hot rods are generally regarded as the future for many forms of motorcycle racing. The factories producing machines approved to compete in this premier winter racing series are Honda, Husqvarna, Kawasaki, KTM, Suzuki and Yamaha.

Looks like we get the first taste of the series up her in Portland. I'm looking forward to seeing it but the the website isn't very clear on what classes will be running. Do we get all of them...speedway,carts,FLATTRACK,and manufacturers classes? I'm pretty sure all we have is a regulation size hockey rink will we be able to see some good hard passing?

Do I need to dig out the DT 500 for this?

I was joking on bringing the old Czech out for some fun. It was mostly just a toy my uncle bought for a track he tilled up on his property. Alcohol and no brakes is quite different but one hell of a good time!

Indeed! :D
Speedway is another passion. I spent several years tuning in said arena.
