was running fine until the cam chain broke. replaced cam chain, sprocket, tensioner and blade. all reassembled, now no spark. I did the orange wire disconnect test, stator tested spot on (red to black=3043, green to black=165) disconnected all but red, black and green. any ideas?? am i missing something??? bad coil??

only way to check a coil is a swap with a known good one. not likely to be the problem. recheck your wiring. including the plug cap.
sometimes it's hard to determine spark on a 650 by yourself.

HEY, NED37!!!!

well, i put it all back together and rechecked the spark. still could not see any fire.... taking note of what you said about checking by myself, I gave her a good squirt of starting fluid and presto!!! she fires right up, when i have a tree to lean her against......

any way, thanks for the help!!!

good riding and keep the shiny side up.

you need to know the big single starting drill.
do you have a handlebar decompression lever?

i'm sure i've posted this before, but...
cold: gas on, choke (dellorto not fully on) on, pull decomp. kick thru about 5 times, no throttle. release lever on decomp. push kicker til heavy resistance. pull decomp and gently move kicker a hair past(about 3-6"((20cm) resistance, release decomp, kicker all the way up, no throttle, and kick full stroke like the man you want to be.
if no start, repeat whole process. don't just whack away at it. if you do this 3 or more times without sucess, take off choke.
when running and blubbering, release choke.
warm or hot, same...no choke

OK, very good. almost the same as my Honda XR500. if you did not do the whole ritual it would not start. you could kick of 15 minuets and it would not start. using the comp release kick it through 5-8 times choke on (cold), position crank at TDC on comp stroke and one good kick it would fire up.

thanks for the info!!!

Maybe go back and recheck cam timing to TDC and valve adjustment. I have had the cam chain off by a tooth and/or valve gap to tight had the same problem. Just a idea, just a pain to remove everthing to get the valve cover off. I use a gas bottle that hangs from the cell, so no tank on the bike until everything seams to run ok.

Now I would like a tank with pump to feed the fuel Injected bikes.
