Great Ride at Baldy Mesa

I rode in the desert in the 80's and 90's (on a Can Am 500MX) so when I got my Berg in 2003 I could not wait to ride it in the desert. Unfortunately I was in Virginia. Well I finally made it back to CA and thanks to Grrttmyers' invitation I got to play in the desert again. Baldy Mesa is a great place to ride. Fire roads, single track, hills, whoops, sand washes, and did I mention HILLS. I only got in about 20 miles before my starter mechanism locked up and I could not get it started (cannot wait to pull the side cover). Thanks to Davey and Grrttmyers for the tow and pushing to get me to the Mountain Top Cafe. Looking forward to the next ride in two weeks or so.

Busted up Berglers, busted up bodies and lost riders made for an exiting day...
Lunch was awesome at the cafe, fun day.
Thanks

I grew up close enough to ride to those hills. Good memories!

Neither my '81 RM100 nor my '83 CR125 could get me up the big hills back then. My 'ol man's XR500 did with little trouble.

A few decades later I took the FE650 up each of those hills quite easily!

In the early eighties near there, we also used to sneak in to ride the Arroyo MX track, now Glen Helen.

Looks like the starter clutch gear lost a tooth. Has anyone ever had this problem? Glad that I have a spare.

Any recommendations on a puller to use to take off the clutch?

Thanks for the offer!

Borrowed a steering wheel puller from Advance Auto that worked great. Getting it back together now.
