Have cracked the solid/pressed side of my rear axel on my ‘07 fe650e. Does anyone know if these can be pressed off and replaced with another piece made up from an engineering place, or is there somewhere I can buy a new axel etc? Any info would be greatly appreciated

hello
the problem is that the one on the other side is deliberately a loose fit so the spindle can go through it. so although it looks good it ia already too big!

so, unless someone suggests something else, yes, you need another one, maybe a new one.

cheers

They sure look like they started off as a separate piece so I bet you can have one made/replaced.

If you want it to look the same, you'd probably want to start with one from the other side and then have a machine shop bore it out and then make an insert the right size to fit the axle. Or, is there any chance the axle has a step there and is a little bigger so the two sides are the same?

If your talking about the fixed block on the end of the axle its internally threaded and loctited on,
If your is cracked it will be easy to remove by unscrewing.
The thread size is the same as the axle nut so it should be reasonably easy to have one made.
If your stuck for one I have one here somewhere :)

this is silly !

a brand new one and you're done. you aren't going to get a new one made for less.

what with the valve clearances thread we have at the moment I reckon the lunatics are finally in charge of the asylum......

I had the exact same problem on my 450 2006.
Taff sold me a new unit and fix the problem for long.
I could probably use a Tig to make a fix it but I didn't want to loose my rear wheel at 2h from civilization.
