My ignition rotor (flywheel) doesn't want to move. I didn't have the puller, so I bought the Motion Pro, it has the nose cup for the crank tip. I can't use a torch, the magnets are glued in place. I haven't tried an impact yet.

I put some thin lubricant on the fit and loaded the puller tight with 20" wrenches. I'll leave it like that overnight.

Anyone else had this problem? How did you get it apart?

Thanks.

Just a thought try a hand impact. If you don’t have one there good to have anyway.

hit the middle of the bolt head with a copper hammer. keep your head out of the way.

it reminds me of my Ducati F2 and in about the mid-eighties i put a puller on the primary gear and tightened it and tightened it. i then hit it in the middle with a hammer.

it shot past my face and missed my best features by a few inches, it cleared the bonnet of the Ford Escort Mk2 behind me and landed on the other side.

Heat the flywheel gently with a hot air gun, aim for the center and make sure you do not exceed some 100-120degC. Then apply as much torque as you dare, keep your head out of the way and give the bolt a good smack with a small sledge hammer, as Taffy suggested. In difficult cases I have used a small torch on the center, protecting the magnets with a piece of alu sheet from the direct heat. Don't linger. Cool it down afterwards with some compressed air to prevent the heat from the center spreading to the magnets.

I got the flywheel off, and the cases split.

Thank y'all for the advice.

Are there any piston rings that will fit/work on the stock piston that are superior to the OEM rings?

Not to my knowledge. The just need to fit the grooves/bore and the liner surface mtrl. Someone here probably knows what piston manufacturer was used in your model? Then you can order a set of rings directly from them.

I want to get away from the cast iron oil control ring if I can. The old one came out in 5 pieces.

But I am not replacing the piston or reconditioning the liner, the fit is within the wear limit.

I spoke to tech support with Wiseco, Hastings, Mahle, and Sealed Power yesterday, looking for rings that fit the OEM piston. No love. I also spoke with Rick over at offroadboss.com, he didn't know of any aftermarket rings that fit my piston either. He had seen the oil control ring come out in pieces in KTM's, but not in Husabergs.
