Hey folks,
I am in the process of repairing a broken timing chain on my 2003 fs650. I thought i was ready to start putting the head back on until my last few parts arrived, the new camchain/timing chain guide (front) is nearly twice the length of the one currently installed on the bike!

What the heck is going on here?
There are no broken pieces inside the case so that leads me to wonder if this could have been done intentionally, since the guide ends just below the top of the block (with head off). its also a nice straight edge

So is this some sneaky trick?

Thanks for any info!

Hi devan

why didn't you have a word with me about this?

I've looked into it and it appears that the part number we were given doesn't hold true. I have now modified our web shop so it won't happen again.

sometimes we are given new numbers by KTM and they just aren't right at all!

not sure if you want to modify that one but either way we can send you the right one.

cheers

taffy

Because he is under no obligation to do so, and it is perfectly understandable to wish to solicit opinions on a public forum in a strange and unexpected situation when repairing a machine which is probably close to one’s heart. I trust that you wouldn’t choose to tarnish your hope to appear as a professional operator by questioning, punishing, or controlling your clients’ nornal and understandable inquiry?

Hey Tourist,
My name is Ally... You obviously have a blame and shame complex going on... your perogotive I guess... But I have to tell you that if you want someone to blame and shame it's me, not Taffy.... Devan is a swell customer of ours and of course he can use any means at his disposal to find out whats occuring, but, I well and truly messed up and I take full responsibility. I have recently suffered trauma after trauma and I am on a long road to recovery, Taffy has stuck by me and is trying to help my recovery, you can ridicule and blame all you like, but I want you to know that it helps no one, if I have found anything out in the last 5 months, it's that life is fragile and taken away as easily as it is given.
I will get stronger I am sure and with Taffy by my side it makes me feel I have something to live for, but this puts him under imense pressure. So go ahead Tourust if this makes you feel like a man, but remember those you hurt along the way.
With best regards always to you and all you Hussy lovers out there
Ally...

Dear Ally

it would be a positive thing to open your own user name account so we all know who is writing what ....

the above post is signed "cheers, taffy"

Taffy has written volumes apon volumes of obscene abuse on this site and made many many people so upset they just leave for good

he has also stuffed up more than the odd order so you will have to forgive us for mistaking your identity

all the best

Jeez tough crowd! Haha

Ally I would have sent you a message about this if I suspected it wasn’t the right part but with all the errors that were made by the shop that last assembled this motor I figured it was more likely that the existing guide was wrong or broken. A message to you was my next step haha

I don’t mind modifying this one now that I know what’s going on, I’d say the same thing was done to the existing guide..
