G’day Guys,

Got the 570 back from the dyno.

59.5 hp. Akro without insert, opened up airbox by cutting up the seat and shrouds, 450 airbox.

The green line is with the seat removed, so it pays to relieve the airbox.

Look how the remap performed against the Vortex.

So you never tried it with the insert as comparison? Oh I was curious about that :(

I would have liked to Jon. Also I would have liked to try the EJK piggyback as well. Pushed for time and dollars mate.

A fella out here who does remaps has said the best map is with the large Akro insert. At a guess, I tend to think that the insert would have more of an effect on torque ie good torque curve at the expense of HP.

From the timestamp it looks like this pull was done on its own?
Would have been nice to see the remap box right after or in the middle of the other pulls to establish the testing environment is identical between the pulls, such as heat soak and tire bite etc.

Not as convenient but you should be able to plot a rough torque curve as hp is calculated from the measured torque.

torque=hp*5252/rpm. If you know the gearing used on the dyno for road speed maybe you can calculate it.

I have done many tests on this. With correct diameter (ie 35-36mm) for around 600cc engines, there is no loss or gain it just kills the noise by around 3db, which is a lot on a logarithmic scale.
The doma I use on the tuned 570 conveniently came with the good one in it at 35mm and as mentioned above it doesnt change the power just kills the noise, the tone is still rumbling, very nice :)

Thanks Tom, good info.

Any change regarding torque?

Yes that 5250 crossover.

I did ask about a torque graph. He computer is set a HP. Obviously what ticks most people. I like to see the full story. Oh well. As Mat (and others) has said previously depends on the dyno, the bloke running it and atmo conditions. The idea is to get the fuelling sorted. Job done. It’s intersting that the remapped ECU did better than the Vortex (yeah Tom, time of day). I couldn’t pick a difference between the maps and this graph shows that less the torque graph of course.

how much power are you guys getting when changing the stock street legal muffler for a better one?

It doesnt do anything for the top end, bottom end is improved.
This usually means something else is holding it back on top. Heads are flowing very poor as they come, 240 cfm from 40mm valves @28 depression.

I did a 4 day trip over our long weekend. The difference now with the remap is night and day different over the Vortex. All the way from go to whoa. There must be something wrong with this Vortex.

I gave the Vortex another run today. It was hard to pick any difference between it and the remap in the few K’s I did with both. If I had to pick I’d say the remap had just a tad more snap.

I can’t believe the change the airbox has made. So much more punch.

Looking at the graph, the number 7 map which I used for the run is showing what I have lead to believe is on the lean side for WOT? I enrichened the low and mid 2.5% and the high by 5% before the run. Considering each click of the trimpot equals 2.5%, I’m considering adding another 2.5% to each of the 3 trimpots to get the AFR’s around the 12.5 - 12.8 ratio.

Any thoughts?

Al.
