Assuming Keihin, it's thus:

Tools:
1/4" socket for clamps
Phillips driver for throttle cable cover
8mm wrenches for throttle cables

Process:
Secure and remove fuel hose.
Drain carb.
Loosen all boot clamps
Rear boot off
Throttle cables and TPS.
Front boot off
Pull out right side

Never removed the starter for this job. No need.

15 min from start to finish, and compared to most posters here, I'm a comparative moron in the garage. Way easier than my last carb bike, the DRZ.

remember, the HT lead is not 'live' unless you are pressing the button!

removal?
with dell orto it is as above BUT undo the three choke housinfg screws, lean the top to the left and remove the slide and cap assembly, then carb out to the right.

Taffy

I confirm what Canadius is saying.

Pro tip: Do not have a friend play with the trottle as you are pulling the carb because you will get accelerator-pumped gasoline in your hair.

Thanks everyone, anyways this is what I'm looking at. Pretty sure I only have the boot clamps removed. going to try and remove the throttle cable and..tps? can I drain the carb when I take it out? not sure if Dell orto or keihin.

Hi there guys,
for memory , i think i used to just loosen the rubber boots either side, then you could rotate the base of carbi toward you, then I think there was just enough room there to get to the base to either remove the base of carbi and also can remove jets ,etc for cleaning.

So maybe dont need to remove the whole thing.

I actually cut down a 17mm ring spanner to about 50mm long, used that to remove drain plug in base of carbi without touching anything else.

Cheers,

Hey guys. Got the carb hanging out the right side with the bottom of the carb removed. I think i see what i need to clean but not sure how to remove inner parts.
