this was the the rust on the shock we end up been in able to swap the shaft and few other parts, replace seal 20170725_113444.jpg it's been tested no leeks, it's now back to life (wasn't sure at first it could be possible but it can)


kibblewhite, porting and oversize KW valve are all in place, and now that omero is closing this might be the last shiny tank we could been able to see,

back in business few problem will come along but the worst should be gone :)

Just want to ask a question...has anyone try or seen the alpina pro carbon wheel matrix or have any feedback on them ? ...I think they can hold much more stress withouth bending/ cracking then standard full carbon also the material they using 7075 is pretty good ...any feedback is appreciated

haven't update much but i haven't forgot about this thread ...news is 16.5 and 5.5 wheel (aluminium) are on their way, I decided aluminium even if they perform slightly lower then carbon matrix for easy to fix and flex if you over jump or come shorter with the carbon I am not sure they will last you long enough

on their way also a clamp 6mm and 11mm offset

got the swingarm shorter and wider, slipper clutch

I was thinking today as I have an aluminum swingarm I can actually adapt one of those fancy ohlins or trax shock on it...even if they are longer and different bottom something can be done

as I am getting the clamp done I thought if I can chose any fork what would it be:WP cone, ohlins,marzocchi, which is more or less what you find around on ktm (and they really work well) and instead I added showa and KYB to the list

and KYB is my choice, I will be getting the husaberg with KYB :giggle:

What is the size of kw valves u chose? I got 33 and 38 I think from polaris but have real problem shortening them. Many different mashine shops declined the job. One tried and never got around to it. Now I'm on mercy of yet another shop. If the can't/wont do it then I'll do it myself with grinder and small cut off disc. Have seats and guides Installed already. 33 and 38 fit really nice in the head. Would anyone consider a group buy of custom 33/38 mm kw valves? I'd be in for 5 sets myself.
 
There is a thread here with bush and also another with spanner or zaga (can't remember) with the subaru valve

The job can be done...but I have never done it or look into it ...have you try to contact KW? I am sure they have machining and knowledge to get it done or any other shop who manufacturer valves can do it

the issue is not many people have done it(probably none) and they won't take the risk

I will check this evening if I find anything about it...bush and the the guy with the subaru valve are the people to ask :)

Consider when cutting/grinding your valves:
  • Are your valves filled with natrium? Opening them could be dangerous since natrium and water or drilling/grinding emulsion can cause dangerous reactions (produces hydrogen and sodium hydroxide).
  • The end of the valve shaft (valve stem face) is made from hardened steel or plated with stellite (cobalt-chrome plating) or a hardened steel pad is welded to the end.

If everything works fine and you could shorten your valve, the valve shaft end is still not hardened and wears quickly. You may could harden it using plasma nitriding... Sounds like a lot of work and a job for specialists to me...

zaga---> It will be good (I hope so :p) ...its expensive and I never planned it, things are going forward...a bit slowly but forward

I know what to do regarding the KYB fork (conversion and stuff) there is a plan

I saw a post with bush with the KTM ohlins shock, and the ktm 85 (that was funny) , I am not 100% sure I will be able to fit it because of my exhaust,
if anyone know the shock length of the YZF 450 2010/2013 (the one with the reservoir sideway) it can seriously help me :)

It was spanner. Subaru ferrera valves. They are a bit smaller and required more machining work. Didn't have diamond coating. Bushmecanic sugested to remove elephants feet at the rockers, but that would mean faster wear. I want to make this build to last really long time. I'm aiming for 1000 hours before needing to open up this engine again. Meaning never again just ridem

uhm...tell them in the form you want the RFS valves design with the size/height you want, maybe even better send them one of your old one :happy:

Sorry I dont recall suggesting removing the elephants feet

I suggested taking the whole foot assembly out and grinding the rocker arm so that the foot could be repositioned higher up.

With 33 38 you need longer valves anyway because they sit further toward the piston than the smaller ones

I've not done it with the polaris valves but I bet a bazillion crocksits I could do it in a weekend.
 
Looks like I misunderstood you Bushie, I never heard of elephants feet. Those are round buttons at the end of adjusting screws? So grinding rockers would simply allow me to retract adjustment further out?. I told the shop that was changing the seats and guides that I want valves to be in exactly the same position/depth as originals. I didn't want to have any surprises with the piston contact or increasing the compression ratio/reducing combustion chamber volume.

shock got figure out, it can be done (ps. its a few mm longer to go well with swingarm) ...I am basically just waiting for the triple clamps.

a year of work here it is

few info

-KYB POLETTI factory fork top insert 54mm bottom 59.2mm (ktm is 60) it's
been spaced, fork feet changed to suit standard husaberg (ktm) brake
-triple clamps is FAOR I can change angle (from KTM)
KTM bearing
6/7mm spacer (can't remember will measure)
it's 200mm wider so you need the 57309081000 axle
75009061000 brake spacer and need milling down to 5mm
and custom wheel spacer
-ISR master cylinder buttons work for ignition, start, kill switch
-wheel is alpina 5.5 rear and 16.5 front
-shock ohlins 5mm taller ha1684 model (just a lot shorter and revalved)
-swingarm is 2.5cm short and alu tank from tesctra (gino)
-dual exhaust ... DCR pipe system and cans is from a CRF 450
-carbonberg (pcproducts) plastic

scott steering damper got fired :) lectron carb would need some more work


just in time for summer
