Hey guys...new to forum. Im looking at an 08 Berg 450 with 120 hours on it and an 06 KTM 450 XC to purchase. I want to street legal a bike for some adventure riding. Both are close to $2500 to purchase. Which bike should I get?

Get da Berg! But be worn they are addictive. I have 07 525 exc and 3 Bergs now. Ktm is good but not that special. My 08 fe550 is dream come true. 08 450 is good for tight trails has low first gear. Husabergs are what Maseratti is in cars.

I've had my 04 450 for 12 years now and love it I just want more bergs but the lack of cash is stopping me! the 450s are great bikes

I think you know your answer already as you ask on this forum ;) You want the berg! /psychologist

I now nothing about pre -09 bergs, but I do now that with this forum you will have all the support you'll ever need.

If you venture into Rough, Rutted and Ugly the Husaberg is King. Not just here on the forum but with all the enduro reviews of their time. Stable and true.

Definitely go with the berg, I grew up riding pumpkins, they are great bikes but just not on the same level as a Husaberg.

What about GETTING parts for Husaberg vs KTM?

I had my 04 450 rebuilt a couple of years ago and had no problems with parts from 04 onwards they wwere built by ktm think you'll find ktm still supply a fair few parts

A CA Plated 08 FE450 for $2500 is a very good deal. Besides the bling added that year its got the Akrapovic slip on exhaust.

Went with Berg. $2600 and its titled and plated. Bime is in great shape and well taken care of.
How about springs for my weight? Im 6'4" and 225. I doubt stock springs are set up for my weight.
Any recommendations for revalving? Ill call my suspension guy today but doubt hes done many husabergs.

First just ride and see how it feels how u like it. And only if u feel that u need then look for the next step. I'd think they are same as Ktm but not 100% shure. Re doing suspension won't be a problem at all from what I know.

Oh yes! And welcome bro. I have one exactly same and she's just sweet ride too.

Just to provide further evidence that you made the right choice, I owned and raced an '05 KTM 450 SX. I sent the engine off to Thumper Racing to have them do some port work and install the XC 5th and 6th gears. Meanwhile, my uncle bought an '07 Husaberg FE450 and I got a chance to ride them back to back once my KTM was back together. I ended up preferring the Husaberg.

we have a resident suspension guy here. named dale Covington and code name DaleO. have a word with dale. cut him in half and he's Husaberg. you'll get more than just a paid up job....

I recommend .50s on the front and a 110 rear. these can only be guides as it is like jumping from a plane....you may miss the 'X' by a little!

Judging by the looks of the exhaust pipes I'd say she hasn't been running much. Low hours? Most important is to just keep changing oil! Must keep it clean! Get a bucket of rotella t6 or dello full synthetic 10 w 40 by the bucket when on sale. Or increase oil capacity with this. Thats what I'll be doing. Wim Derks in Netherland is racing sidecars and custom making oil filter cover/adapters to mount externally cooler or tank or extra spin on filter. I'll be installing large spin on filter under the seat. I'll double the oil capacity.

Yes shes in great shape!! Ordering a BRP Scotts undermount damper and Protaper Windam mid bars. Im 6'4" and hopefully this will be high enough. Anyone make a tall seat? What about lower pegs? What mileage should I expect of stock tank? It will be dual sported for trails up here in Colorado. Any suggestions for a new headlight? Stock is pretty dim. Plan on running Rotella 15/40 diesel engine oil. Run 0/40 in my CrF 270 and Husqvarna 14 TXC310. Figured 0/40 was a little lite in Husaberg.
Thanks

I'm also around 6-4 220lb with a 2005 FE 550 and I run the Fastway EVO aluminum pegs (which can be lowered) and GUTS Racing tall seat foam and cover. Get the more expensive/racing seat cover from GUTS.

I run a newer (non-squarish) headlight housing from a 2010 Berg and it really updates the look of the bike, but not especially too bright!
