Hey guys! Hoping to join the Husaberg owners ranks again.
Looking at possibly purchasing a 2000 FE600E that happens to be Ca. street plated.
I know the 2000 model is a transitional year with the old engine and new (at the time) chassis. I really like the looks of the 2000-2008 bikes and actually kind of prefer the early engines with their conventional cylinder design over the '01-'08 engines.
Anyhow, would just like to hear (read) some opinions on this bike--what you like or don't like--future parts availability etc.

Thanks!

Bruce

I had a 2000 FX600E once. It was an amazing bike. Never had a problem with it. I would still have it had I not gotten in a head-on collision and bent the frame. Still have parts of it in another bike that I put together. You're right that it was a transitional year. Many feel that the 2000 was the best year because it had the new chassis and the engine had the benefit of 11 years of refinement. The holy grail for me would be to find a 2000 FC600 because I don't need the battery, electric starter, and counter balancer.

As far as parts availability, there are so many of these bikes being parted out right now that it shouldn't be a problem...except for the parts that are unique to the 2000 engine. And, as far as I know, that would really only be the hydraulic clutch.

Incidentally, I liked that bike so much that I have basically built another. I have a 2003 frame with the suspension and plastics from the old FX600 and the engine is from a '94 FE600 parts bike that I picked up. I find that, with the proper cable routing, I don't really miss the juice clutch anyway and the older engine sans oil pump is definitely simpler.

Pretty much every Berg enthusiast will agree that the 2000 models were the best of the "real Husabergs"
I wish I had never sold my 99 Fe400:(

I only look for 04-08s. But if I would make an exception it would be the 2000 Fe600 just because it was cool, unique and reliable.

I have an electric start FE600e engine here from 2000.

build a better bike!!!

Just got off the phone with the owner of the bike and we have made a deal. Will pick it up a week from this Saturday.

Just unloaded it. Pretty clean for a 17 year old dirt bike.
Runs great. Starts first or second kick. Starter is non-functional as the battery is junk. The seat graphics, as you can see, are missing on one side and dirty on the other. I'll remove the dirty side just to even it up. Steering bearings feel tight so that will need attending to.
Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase. Glad to be back in the house of Berg! :)

And some pics.
