Hi all just got my bike running but it will start when cold but as soon as it is running and it stops it will not start up again it won't even try and start anyone help thanks

Hi

There are several post about the subject, that you can check

My advice is to narrow the search, since it can be a couple of things

So try to check the usual suspects:

Check stator values
Check spark
Clean carb and check jetting
Check valve clearance

With this simple checks, you can start to have some ideas

Hi Been out looking at bike tonight cleaned carb and set up as std still won't start so went to check tappits and at top dead it has .10mm gap all round but if you turn engine over to get top dead again so 180 there is no gap at all so how do I set them thanks Wayne

That's normal
Let's see if you're cam is pointing up you have some gap between the cam and the actuators
But when you turn the engine the cams will start to push the valves, so no gap
On the next turn you will have gap again
Hope I've made some sense to you

hi no i have a gap at tdc then when i turn over to the tdc next no gap when i set the timing does the lobes have to be up or down thanks, this bike will be scraped soon i think i have put a new cam chain on and new slides i dont know if i have dont right but in book i have my can sprockrt has not got ant marks on as it says in book so i have put were it looks right but dont know were it has to be to do tappetts :devil: have got loads of spark and have tryed ney piug to it would not start at all last night but the night before it did but when got hot would not sart getting very peed off now

Hi

In one revolution you will have a gap (compression cycle), on the next one you won't have any gap because the valves will be actuated, one the next you will have gap again.

So that gap is what you need to control.

The marks on the cam sprocket are small so you may have to look closer, if you don't have marks do it like the picture

I am I did get to have a look again last night still no good :( does the decompression leaver need to be forward or back when setting it up as it was not on bike when I got as I don't think I have done it right I have got it pulled back it's like there is to much compression as it keeps flating battery very fast

Well had a look again to night timing all right tappets all right loads of spark carb looks clean and set up as std still no go will take carb to work in morning and blow all out and strip down if this don't work the bag at crap will will up for sale. Never getting a HUSABERG again put me right off them now over 30years doing bikes this is the first one to beat me

Finally got it running so happy now lol still wouldn't start with the starter motor or kick but that's me as not got decompression right yet I bumped it in 3rd gear and fired 1st time road round for a bit goes well just need a new starter now as I looked at mine and bushes all worn out so is some of the winding

Godspeed mate! We're sending good vibes to you :)

If you swear off this one, then please know that 2000-2002-ish bikes are considered a bit difficult :) Later ones a little less fussy.

Hey just saw this. WELL DONE!! This is inspiring. Currently helping a friend get a '96 Husky WXC 410 going. It's in about the same state. Cheers!
