Gentlemen!!!
Okay okay, now I can finally be included in the cool kid club!
Saturday, I purchased an '03 FE400E from AtomicPunk. Wow, what a wonderful stiffy it has given me!
So, in case you don't know, my company is sending me to Holland, starting October 1st, for 2 years. This idea has been in the works for months now, and until recently, was not quite reality. But, it is now. When this was getting more and more firm, Punk decided to sell his bike. Dreams of sugerplums went dancing through my head. I actually was sweating that he would sell the bike before I would be able to make the committment. Low and behold, all things worked out, got the cash, now I have the bike.
I live in Redding, CT. Punk and Bergler live in a town that borders New Hampshire. My buddy Mikey and I went up there Saturday in his ghetto truck (not legal, but don't tell!!). We showed up around 12:30, only to see two short, stocky looking dudes hunkered over an XR200, front end all apart resealing the forks. Turns out it's one of the ladies' bike. We chew the cudd for around an hour talking about everything motorsports. AND, let me tell you, these two clowns are stand up guys. They are the first UHE members I have met personally, and they did not disappoint. It's just too bad they are now short one Husaberg!!
So, after shootin the sh@t, we decide it's a good idea to go for a ride. By this time, the XR is back together. Fortunately, these two have a fleet of toys to choose from, so all 4 of us were able to ride. Bergler on his 400, me on my (soon to be) 400, Punk (wearin' the pink undies!) on the XR200, and my buddy mikey on a cr250 3-wheeler (of which he still has not shut up about, that's all he has talked about regarding the trip!!).
Off we go. The days before we arrived, it had rained a bit, so the trails were littered with these 10-20 foot long, 6-24" deep puddles. I asked these guys not try to not take us fjording...... All I have to say is DARN!!!! These two have, what seems like, around 400 million acres of land to ride on. AND, to make the clevage look even more luscious, it's litterally at the end of the driveway!!! (HINT HINT: Future spot of the Northeast Force Ride!) Sand pits, tight trails, whoops, jumps, WATER, everything. EVERYTHING. I'm jealous, so very jealous.
The bike.
Nice. Powerfull. Smooth. Georgeous. NEW! I am very impressed with it as compared to my 91. Tonight I messed with the rear sag (Punk is a bit shorter that me, so things were set up accordingly). I ended up raising it an inch to the 100mm setting. The front still needs work, but I don't have the shims for that just yet ( :?: could steal them from my old old forks). Other than that, it's need a rocker adustment, and an oil change.
So, all in all, I'm happy, and can't wait to ride with BP219 and those guys from Ohio this weekend.
Also, as a note, I should still have my spare old 350 for the East Coast Force Ride. If anyone is interested, I can bring it along...
Now, I must learn about the new bikes.

PS- Pics soon to come. I have been having issues posting pics from my webpage (that is located on Schwims hard drive :twisted
